Yeah the scheduling of it was stupid being outdoors in Philly in April. Of course it did extremely well, could have done better viewership not going up against the Final Four though.
Also as an owner, there are ways to protect yourself from shareholder’s trying to take over your company when public. See Facebook’s share and board structure for an example.
Tony Khan thought it “made a lot of sense” to air the All In footage. Speaking to Chris Russell, Khan said airing the Jack Perry/CM Punk altercation from last year's All In plays into the FTR/Young Bucks match that will take place at AEW Dynasty this coming weekend. Well, I think it made a lot of sense. First of all, FTR/Young Bucks ladder match coming up at AEW Dynasty for the World Tag Team Championships. This is the fourth chapter in FTR vs. The Young Bucks...the last time they wrestled, Young Bucks/FTR III, was at Wembley Stadium, AEW All In. And a lot happened that day. They were the third match on the pay-per-view and at one point it looked like we were going to have to call them up and they were going to have to wrestle the first match. And then they ended up going on in the spot they were in, but the Young Bucks said, the whole day, everything that happened, it really affected their mental preparation, they weren’t able to pray before the match, they were very stressed out. They slipped on the banana peel and lost the match but they blame FTR, they blame what happened at Wembley Stadium, and that’s why, in hindsight, thats why they refused to shake FTR’s hand. Khan also pointed out the reaction Jack Perry received this past Friday at NJPW Windy City Riot, losing to Shota Umino. It was fascinating to see after that tape played, the reaction that Jack Perry got at New Japan Pro Wrestling this week, he got the reaction of a superstar. That is not altogether unexpected and it’s something very interesting, perhaps a side effect of this. Jack Perry [is] already a big star in wrestling, really the way the crowd connected with him in Chicago, that was interesting to see. The Young Bucks have made references to Perry in recent weeks, including Matthew Jackson wearing a scapegoat t-shirt on last week's Dynamite. Perry remains under suspension following the altercation with Punk, who was fired.
Had to have multiple surgeries on it. Though I’m surprised he still has a long way to go when he’s not in a boot anymore
If Kenny was back or MJF was back, Ospreay would not have come in as a face. That was a pivot since Jay white as a top face was not working out
I do not understand how a gaming commission can regulate AEW but they should definitely have Nyla Rose wrestle Riho in Oklahoma for a belt. Also screw the Oklahoma government.
Omega had a pretty surprising take on the Brawl Out. Basically that in a competitive environment sometimes dudes just need to have a fight and get past it. Must be from growing up playing hockey in Canada.
Some of these states still have commissions that regulate pro wrestling like a real sport. Like fining wrestlers 50 or 100 bucks for fighting outside the ring or blading. I think there are a bunch of moves outlawed in Louisiana and that was an issue for all the Indy shows that run during Mania. WWE, TNA, and probably AEW now got exceptions for by having to certify they have expert level trained wrestlers (lol). Vince went under oath and “exposed the business” back in the 90’s to stop having to pay the athletic commissions to run shows.
It would definitely be the wrong decision to have Swerve drop to Will in London. Swerve is hot, Will would be over regardless who he fights, and Will should be taking the belt off a long term heel
Also feels like Ospreay loves being a babyface. And did AEW get a new director? There were some fantastic camera shots tonight
Only thing good about Jericho-HOOK being on Sunday is hopefully that means that story isn’t dragged out past this week. Should be a preshow match if they insist on having it there
Wow and Angelo found out then too. It wasn’t just an announcement to the fans. Hopefully AEW releases footage of that, would be pretty neat to see something better than just this fan cam
Lots of good storyline work and promos, a couple of fun matches, and a killer main event. Quite the TV episode
Man has been balling out on another level here recently, and he normally brings it every match to begin with. He went nuts in that match on Collision on Saturday too. Makes me wonder if this is a contract year for him.
Things could have gone really bad on that double stomp when his legs started splitting and he started falling forward but thankfully he came out unscathed.
AEW PPVs always overdeliver, and this one has been built as good as any in recent memory. I’m stoked about Dynasty. The Bucks said to expect some surprises as well. We have a possible PPV of the Year contender on Sunday.
his run so far reminds me a lot of HBK's face turn back in 95, just so smooth and wildly entertaining, breath of fresh air
