I hate two things about the dumping all eps at once. It makes the wait even longer for the next season (assuming there is, no idea if this is a one season thing or what) It makes discussion of it pretty hard to do.
As far as the first part goes, Netflix got this show in part because they promised 26 episodes right away, so there will be a season 2. Agree on both points though. Maybe we should said a date where we could unspoiler discussion? Say the end of this month or something. That's an episode every two days, not hard to do.
How about making it spoiler free a few episodes at a time...Like this week's thread title would be something like - DONT enter if you haven't seen through episode 3 Next week episode 6 etc. Then just spoiler any issues after those episodes.
Agree, but I love watching tv like this. Sometimes I will wait till a season is over to start it. Watching 10-12 episodes of great tv over a few days is great.
I'm like 5 episodes in. I still like it, but I tend to get bored when they go over to junky Russo. Love the Zoe and Spacey plotline. Also, to whomever was comparing it to Breaking Bad...I wouldn't recommend it. Not many shows are even close to being on that level, including House of Cards.
Some dickhead in the Auburn thread spoilered a pretty major Game of Thrones scene a few years back and I'm still emotional about it. Spoiler Ned Stark's execution
Spoiler talk thru episode 11 Spoiler Saw that coming for the most part, still pretty crazy with as many people who would be considered "loose ends". Really anxious to see what the last couple of episodes have in store. I would have Kate Mara's babies.
Just finished season 1. Spoiler Damn good show. Kinda bummed the finale was more of a setup to season 2, but I know they went into the show writing for 26 episodes, rather than just 13, so there is obviously a ton more they are planning on getting to. Can't wait to see what kind of shit goes down next. In a year Well done Netflix, well done.
Should I continue on with this (on episode 2) or watch season 2 of Homeland Kind of a Homeland spoiler Spoiler Homeland pisses me off though, Brody running for Congress angers me, he's a sergeant in the Marines that has lost 8 years of his life, it's comical to picture him on any political issue.
Watched the first 3 eps, this show is incredible so far. It's like West Wing without the optimism. Kevin Spacey is back on his 90s-level prime.
episode 11 Spoiler I loved Russo. I can't believe that. ughhhh Also, even though Frank was an ass, I liked him. Now, I am pissed as fuck at him. Didn't see that coming.
Spoiler is through the entire season so don't look till finished. Spoiler Just finished the season. The VP play and Russo were all something I thought might happen. There was really no benefit in him running for governor to Frank if things didn't flame out like that. While it was pretty obvious they did it well so still fun to watch it play out. The suicide I was 50/50 on happening and while I loved the character I think it was the right call. Makes this investigation much more fun. The thing that struck me the most is they put things in this show that literally had no reason to be there. Things like the asian cunt being sick and them making a big show of her being sick mounted to absolutely nothing (unless having a cold is a pregnancy warning I do not know of). I am hoping for a spinoff about Doug Stamper the fixer. I really love him. Now I just hate that it was a cliffhanger and I have a year or so before I see where they go with it. But bravo Netflix for changing the game. Wonder if they will sell this to a cable channel or something, the run times per episode were fairly short so that made me wonder if that was the plan in doing so.
Just finished. Netflix should just pay all the actors and crew and shoot year round. I want this show to go 10 seasons with Underwood a dirty president taking over the world in the finale. Loved the show. A+
the product placement was kind of obvious. blantons, the ps vita. i guess thats expected with no commercials or at least fewer ads
thru episode 11 Spoiler guess I don't really understand Frank's motivation to kill Russo. I know that he's a shady character that lies to get what he wants, etc....but the VP thing already seems setup and I don't buy him killing Russo solely to get his wife to come back. I mean he was going to make a statement the next day withdrawing from the governor race. What good does it do to kill him?
Spoiler Russo was a loose cannon who not only could have ruined Underwood's shot at VP, but he could open the door for corruption charges, etc. While he didn't see the big picture of what Frank was doing, he knew enough to destroy him. Once that string got tugged on the whole thing would begin to unravel (the show is titled what it is for a reason). Plus, he essentially told Stamper he was going to confess to what he had done (after already attempting to turn himself in for the DUI/hooker) which would implicate Frank, Stamper, and the police commissioner at the very least.
Spoiler ya just seems like something Frank would be able to talk him out of. Who knows. Just seemed like killing a US Congressman was a bit of an overreaction given the threat, or lack thereof, that Russo posed.
Really? Maybe it's because I watched it so quickly, but the people used a lot of the same products I use every day I guess the PS3/Vita thing could call attention to it, but I thought it was a cool thing that Underwood did.
they were definitely Apple sponsored. It wasn't just that everyone except Underwood were using iPhones and Macs, it was how the apple logos featured prominently in several shots. it didn't bug me much, it wasn't intrusive and it didn't feel like they made up story points or scenes to advertise.
Considering how blatant most shows are now I thought it was pretty organic in most places with the product placement.
Not Kevin Spacey: “Have a seat.” Kevin Spacey: ”Is that a PS Vita? Which games does it have?” Not Kevin Spacey: “All of them.” Kevin Spacey: ”I have a console at home I play sometimes to relax. I oughta get one of these for the car.” idk considering a lot of people stream netflix from their console that one was blatant to me. the blantons one was less obvious i guess he just said something like "of course its the best" or something. i mean i dont blame them its just inorganic sometimes
Idk I have an iPhone, a MacBook, and would like an iPad sometime over the next year. And these guys have a lot more money than I do, so it doesn't surprise me that they would have so many of these types of products.
Considering I can watch this (legally) with only a $7/month netflix subscription, without commercials, or a $100+ cable subscription...hell they could have a subway guy dancing in the background for all I care.
the price isnt the issue, im in college and i have a vita and i like blantons. its still just advertising within the storyline. it doesnt change my view of the show, just something i noticed. id rather it be like this with netflix than regular commercial breaks, giving money to fucking cbs or something.
I'm definitely not complaining about it. Getting these longform shows HBO style with some non-intrusive product placement thrown in is fine with me.
I work in big boy national politics and have seen some shit. Will I like this show or turn it off after the pilot?
I mean if that's what you work with every day I'm sure you'll poke holes in it but it's still pretty entertaining. Spacey is great in it.
