tiger/koepka/matsuyama and kaymer/schwartzel/haas on PGA tour live this morning tiger and koepka both at -2 thru 6
Lots of guys have missed a week here and there over the years but I don't think I've ever seen one where no players were eligible. Tough break, dude.
Tiger seems to be much looser and more comfortable on the course. Seems really, really confident in everything he's doing. Maybe playing in a field without some of the top players will help him some.
it really was 1 of his 2 poor shots all day. I was kidding earlier but it's nice to see tiger play like this
Tiger is definitely improving. A chip in and making a ton of putts helps. Errant shots not really punished as harshly at the Wyndham either, but he settled down after missing the fairway early. The 50 yard right shot on 17 wasn't really punished because he could still hit it on green. Why I think Tiger always has a chance at Augusta. You can be wild and still score. Not so at the other majors.
He probably needed to play in a few more of these "easy" locations this year. He needs to build that confidence of rolling in some putts and making some shots out of rough. It seems stupid to try and make a comeback by only playing in the toughest tournaments.
Agree. He needs reps and only playing 10 events doesn't get you the reps. Rounds like today can only build the confidence. Still has a ways to go though only last week he missed the cut by two shots. He hit the ball better, but couldn't putt and his few errant shots were punished. Improvement from the US Open, which was laughable bad all around.
Yup, that's what I'm saying. If you are hitting a lot of errant shots, it does not make sense to only play courses that punish errant shots. Playing some of these less brutal courses lets him work on accuracy AND still not be in a terrible position if you hit a bad one.
Played with my bess frann this weekend. Will never do that shit again. Shot 44-34. Wasn't a super difficult track.
Uhhh, I don't see your number calling me either! Let me know when you're free. I lipped out 2 < 10 footers on that 34. One was for eagle too. I ended up telling the wife to shut her fuckin mouth on 17. It got a little awkward for our playing partner. Haha
Trying to figure out a way to do ttis this evening, without pissing off the wife too much. I might only get one or the other, but that would still be fine.
I don't get to hit range balls before playing too terribly often. Hoping I can get some good feels and take them to the course and shoot a respectable 9 hole number.
Nice. dahldennsull is gonna tee it up too. Some place up by me though. Maybe I'll check when my PGA pass expires
True, but it's a nine hole course with a big practice facility and I would rather stop at 9 than play the exact same 9 holes twice.
Take it easy on him. He only has sex once every other week. He has to take his aggression out somewhere.
Fountain Hills. I think we'll do 36 at We-Ko-Pa because it is very close and looks awesome. Probably 18 at Troon North based on recs from this thread and its reputation. Certainly open to any other suggestions though.
Scottsdale: Grayhawk (already mentioned) TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course (already mentioned) The Phoenician - they have three nine hole courses and it depends what the rotation is on that day, either Oasis-Desert or Oasis-Canyon. Desert is much better because it's tucked right against Camelback mountain. Kierland Phoenix: Arizona Biltmore Lookout Mountain (personal favorite) Papago - it's a municipal course but their greens are fantastic ASU Karsten - it is probably not going to be around much longer, but a nice rolling hills type course on ASU's campus
Forgot, look at Talking Stick - their new management is 100X better and the courses is coming around nicely. Don't forget Top Golf in Scottsdale, either.
I haven't even made it out of the office yet and weather is already starting to turn shitty. Fuck this whole bullshit week of thunderstorms..
Flew out to San Diego on Tuesday morning to visit my brother with my parents, clubs were brought along. Was going play Torrey yesterday, but plans fell through. Tried to play today, some outing going on all morning. Ended up at the gliderport directly next to the course today, 'd a bit standing against the fence watching people play. Cliffs: I'm an idiot
