It’s impossible to know, but seems we were/are willing to nearly match any offer for the elite OT’s this cycle. Could be positive spin, but that’s the vibe I’ve gotten.
I guess, Birm did mention yesterday that OSU has money, too ;) But he also only gives OSU a small chance in this recruitment, while Rivals ranks OSU #4 out of the 4 finalists (and Oregon #1 of course).
Yea, we have no shot but I don’t think it’s due to NIL. Cantwell is from a super small town and all of his comments after his visit were about Columbus the city. Seems he prefers a smaller campus feel and didn’t like Columbus. Again, could be positive spin but that seemed to be the biggest issue after he visited.
I'm fine with losing someone for that reason. It ain't for everyone. Especially meth freak shows from Missouri.
Remember when we used to take receivers like this? https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/elijah-gardiner-186932?view=pv
From the UA camp in February: “And if there was a technician of the day, it would have to go to Brock Boyd. The 2026 wideout out of Southlake Carroll put on a clinic at Melissa HS creating separation with ease and little to no effort. His ability to set up defenders and time his breaks at the perfect moment is no accident. His feel and understanding of leverage in order to snap off his routes is textbook. Boyd has the feel and natural ball skills to win in the intermediate levels of the field as well as any receiver in the country. Plus, he has the long speed to win over the top against most defenders which forces corners to respect his ability to get vertical. Would love to see him add mass to his frame while maintaining his athleticism, but his nuance at the receiver position is second to none”
I haven't heard anything. Some that wouldn't surprise me- Damarion Witten (TE) Bennett Christian (TE) Max Leblanc (TE) Josh Mickens (DE) Dominic Kirks (DL) Eric Mensah (DT) Bryson Rogers (WR) Garrett Stover (LB) Myles Lockhart (CB) Keenan Nelson (S)
You don't think a 4th, 5th, or 6th string TE would transfer going into their 2nd or 3rd year? I'm not predicting it. Just that I can see the case. Some of those other guys I haven't heard mentioned much this spring and I don't have a lot of confidence they can contribute here.
Written is playing WR now, and this was just his first offseason with the team as he didn’t early enroll. Leblanc is another 2nd year guy that didn’t enroll until the summer. Christianson got time in the playoffs and likely is in the rotation going into the fall. I don’t see any of the DL guys leaving as we have such little depth as it is. Plus the guys you listed were both more developmental guys that needed time to develop. Lockhart was a big get and didn’t enroll early either. We lose a ton in the secondary after this year and he’s someone we will need going into 26. Lastly, would be shocked if Stover ever leaves, just seems like a legacy guy with his brother. So many of the 2nd year guys you listed didn’t enroll early, and that’s likely why we haven’t heard anything. I think it’s OK for those to not start popping until they are well into their 2nd full year.
How fucking stupid does Nico look now…passing up $2 Million at a big school. Now he will be lucky to make a quarter of that.
I feel bad for the kid. Clearly had shit people around him telling him what to do. If he wanted to renegotiate, he should have done it right after the season, instead he could be throwing his career away over < 2 million bucks.
i don't get why he waited until the spring to try this power play. he probably could have gotten more (or at least as much) if he enters the portal back in january
Did any journalist write an article about who seemed to be the starters? Or feel free to enlighten me
