Hoping for some RDR2 style fast travel via train to get them across the US. I’m also expecting to be disappointed in that regard.
I think my biggest problem with it all, is that we know it’s only two seasons. If it was more than two then I would be more ok with the development. But instead we are more interested in him at the ranch and I don’t think there is going to be much time at this pace.
At this pace, Spencer I arriving one episode before the finale. They're going Game of Thrones early pace for a 2 season show
If it's only two seasons I don't think he can ever make it. Really surprised they spun that into an entirely new story when it seems like the ranch hinges on him showing up to save it.
Not only did they spin Spencer's story into a new thing but now the threat to the ranch is financial, not something Spencer can come fight his way through (though maybe his heiress wife has some ideas). we certain it's locked into two seasons? Sure seems like they are setting up for a "Spencer and wifey try to find each other adventure while the ranch deals with the financial stuff" for all of season 2, then maybe Spencer arrives at the end and we are back to Banner vs Spencer in season 3.
I won’t lie… I still enjoy the show regardless of all of the dumb shit. I’m fearful that we won’t get Spencer’s at the ranch until s2 e5/6 at this rate. We really don’t give a fuck how hard international travel can be. Like hey… it’s 1923… we get it’s not just hopping on a jet and being anywhere you want to be within 24 hours
Think we understand the travel part and everything besides some fucking dual out of nowhere It had a chance to be a very good show but doing network writer nonsense
It was laying down a good foundation for a long time but just went completely off the rails. Spencer can't fight a tax debt
Good foundation? No offense, but other than Spencer's story line and maybe the fight with the sheep herder, the other ones were not great torturing squaws in the name of Catholicism - sucked whipping whores for amusement - sucked fighting tooth and nail to save the ranch - got old fast nursing GSW victims back to health - sucked burying the mounting # killed - sucked season was maybe a 3/10 ...
I appreciated the tension of a looming showdown with Spencer and Banner, but these new plots being squeezed in between now and then is BS.
Where did you see them going with it? There has to be some balance of positive / uplifting with the depressing stuff, which they accomplish in Yellowstone but not 1923. Maybe you're right, perhaps it was a good foundation and they just took the worst possible tangents. It's almost like Taylor Sheridan is trying to shock and punish his audience. I want to be mostly just entertained ...
I figured it was all setting up for the simple answer of a fight with the Irish once Spencer eventually gets there with nothing happening to mining guy because nothing ever happens to them. All the rest of the story seemed to be building up to that before they started writing a bigger part for the mining guy and took the left turn into a financial takeover. Didn't really expect much positive shit to happen after the way Sheridan wrote the last prequel. Not sure where the native American story goes but I thought the depiction of the treatment in those schools was important to show and they did a decent job depicting the shit treatment by the religious crazies and the government.
I haven't watched 1883, only saw the 1st ep. Thought and hoped that 1923 would be better and more positive. Agree with you about the NAs, but you can make the point w/o bludgeoning your audience ...
lol 2 seconds of that completely separate story line that nobody cares about, but they'll waste a couple full episodes on it
I wonder how many episodes it'll take for Spencer to actually make it to Yellowstone. I'm sure he'll have travel the long way across America to get there lol.
Unless they really really speed through it, it sure looked like the majority of the season he's not even there. Only 8 episodes right?
If Spencer doesn't come back and fuck some people up what is the point of 1923? Also when I told my wife this show as back, she asked if this is the one they gratuitously beat native american children for an episode?
They're entertaining right wing jerk off sessions. This sounds douchy but we all are capable of leaving the crap behind and enjoying the dumb entertaining aspects of the show. But so many are gonna be like " guberment bad! Just like they say in 1923 and Landman!"
That for sure. But the biggest issue I have is there is 7 storylines going. It’s just too much sometimes to move the show and it gets frustrating.
Banner and Creighton Creighton and his love interests Spencer Alex Cara and Elizabeth Tiona Jacob and Jack with Zain 7 different angles
Didn’t see the guberment shit as overly right wing like Landman or Yellowstone at times fine episode, just want Spencer to get home and kill
That first Timothy Dalton scene caught me off guard....I forgot Taylor Sheridan uses him to let his freak flag fly
