I’m going to pretend it is 2020 so I can be excited about the Toffees new manager and the marquee signing of Donny van de Beek.
I've read that it's £5million and a 6 month loan back so he can finish the season with Fulham, which I think is a pretty fair deal from #Liverpool but not necessarily in our best interest. It's clear Fab wants to move to a bigger club and getting 5m instead of nothing and going to a tribunal is nice, but I think we should try to negotiate an 18 month loan back. At the risk of being overconfident I think we finish top 2 whether Fab is with us or not, and him being on the squad the rest of the season does nothing to help us prepare for next season. However, if he plays with us next year also it gives us a good player for next year and he also gets significantly more playing time for us in the PL than he would playing for Liverpool so win/win if it can happen. If not I'd say take the 5m and let him leave now.
Liverpool are pretty up against it with homegrown players, and a bunch of those guys will probably leave. So we’d probably need him from that perspective next year.
Thank fuck Newcastle didn’t stoop down so far to take bum ass Nat Phillips. He’s on his way to Bournemouth on loan.
It was cute when you guys tried to act like he is a good CB. I’m an expert at recognizing shit CB’s after all these years with Newcastle, it was easy to spot.
reallly good player. kinda painful to see everyone around the league making moves and just sitting here and seeing all your players listed as transferring out.
agree. the $ I saw a few days ago was crazy cheap, if that's indeed what they ended up getting him for
what are united's alternatives? let him chill on the bench or in the reserves and then leave for free over the summer?
West Ham wants him, but United said they won't loan him there as they're direct competition for 4th place. It's basically accept Newcastle's loan, or let him sit for 5 more months.
Agreed. What's the deal with Targett? I'm surprised he was able to be loaned(Apparently there's also a buy option?)
i don't know. i'm guessing he wants to play and won't get that opportunity with digne. and we have ashley young for cover there. he's not a world beater but he is a legitimate premier league left back. he had a great season last year with grealish on the left. hasn't been as good this season with him gone.
also it's pretty clear that gerrard doesn't really rate him. they were linked with left backs almost from the day he took the job. and once they got digne it really didn't matter what targett did. the only way he was going to play in the league was if digne got hurt or turned into an awfu player
He will step in and be the best left fullback on the roster the moment he signs. I figured Gerrard would have wanted to keep him as cover.
