Dbacks shouldn't even exist. Just a sad excuse for a franchise. One of about 10 teams who should just be contracted.
Hand up, I thought the Guardians would struggle to win 70 games this year. They've been so fun to watch fight like hell to get where they are. I don't think they have much chance of getting out of the ALDS but they're playing with house money considering how young the team is and have a lot of talent waiting in the system. Tito is the GOAT.
I wish the ownership wasn't so cheap, but they did a good thing re-signing Ramirez and they obviously are great at developing pitching. glad they are the team that came out of the shit central. They'll be much friskier than Twins or White Sox could ever dream of. Especially if they get to line up there pitching.
Yadi is the 2nd most valuable defensive player in the history of the game. Totally over rated. Edit - I lied. He passed Ozzie Smith. #1all time. should be a 1st ballot HOFer.
I'll never not cringe at Wainwright's Twitter account profile. Dude is firmly on that CFA/FCA bandwagon and it sucks Buxton having knee surgery. He'll end the year with 92 games played, which is a disappointment after he started the season with so much promise
Molina has almost the exact same profile as Omar Vizquel who could only muster 43% of the vote at his best year. Molina will be lucky to make it at all.
Their scouting report profiles might sound similar. Their actual performance profiles aren't that close. I've never been a Molina guy, but his career statistically is significantly better than Vizquel's, and that's before you take into account that defensive metrics almost certainly undervalue Molina (even if it's not as undervalued as Molina stans across the media and the BFIB want you to believe). There was a time I was willing to stand in front of the Molina HOF train back in the day because I found some of the love he got really annoying, but I don't really see how anyone could have a problem with it at this point.
This video breaks it down nicely. Cliffs - he’s the most valuable defensive player in history while also being well above average offensively for the position. That doesn’t include the intangibles about handling staffs and ungodly steals suppression everyone will cringe about.
These are the kind of sick burnz you have to come up with when you have no argument against his HOF candidacy SAD!
Haha, I actually don’t have a problem with him going in, I just find the breathless adulation from cardinals’ fans/old school baseball types to be tired.
I actually find the Molina adulation to be refreshing, as I don't recall many latin players ever getting those kind of accolades. Give me Yadi shit over Eckstein shit any day.
This has been me for the last decade, essentially. Molina is really good, but he's also one of the last players who the old school guys like Heyman get to bring up as "stats don't do him justice" as the game has become more and more in love with WAR and other stats like it. And I don't deny there's truth to it, but the reason they're doing it is very transparent, and the people who do it (those media types and St. Louis fans) are incredibly annoying.
If making balls into strikes makes you the most valuable defensive player in history then Angel Hernandez is first ballot
