It didn’t work for me at first. I had to download the latest update of the app and then it worked next time I opened it.
its not that. I have the latest version of the app. They keep telling me my account isn't "eligible" but never tell me why it's not eligible.
I don’t often listen to music on my own lol. It basically functions to let Alexa play shit and to provide stuff in the car on the way to school. The Lonely Island was in my top 5 artists!
Funny thing is that just outside my top 5 songs is: If you have ever heard Mother I Sober then you have to know I’m a sad boi
You’re aware of me. There’s a ton of other music in there but if I’m anything as human being it’s a hip hop nerd
Only listened to like 2600 minutes of music on there this year. Too much podcasts and I don't use Spotify for that. Yung Gravy because of like a one-week kick that I kept replaying his top 10 songs a couple times a day.
TC first song in my year end wrap up (non new release non rap) at like 35 was: Also bammers doxxed me It’s like 20 more songs till you get to Turtles All The Way Down then it gets Ziggy and Childers heavy
Talking Head made me hate Talking Heads. Certainly didn’t help that I wasn’t really into their musical style, though.
I used nugs way more than Spotify this year. All the live stuff, and Dead/Jerry almost exclusively there. 9k hours on Spotify, so I would guess 30k+ hours on nugs. Plus however many hours of streams and I also have a collection of FLAC audio. Bluegrass #1 but the artist are more spread out.
I know streaming sucks for the artist, but it does help you find new stuff you might otherwise never discover. Tickets and Merch. Still buy stuff on Bandcamp and get vinyl on things I really like too. I think I’m close to done with Spotify though. Their interface keeps getting worse to me. I hate that they push pods on you, and you can’t have separate areas for them in the app. I’m not going to listen to pods there, click on one and your recommendations are toast. They want you to listen to them badly. Probably doing the Apple One bundle and sharing it with family, which includes Apple Music. You can use Song Shift to transfer playlists between platforms, but don’t think you can transfer your likes/follows.
My thing was when they started trying to push audiobooks. But I tried to click one and it was a separate charge
Switched to Tidal earlier this year and the interface/algorithm is significantly worse than Spotify’s (was). I’m going to stick with it, though. I don't have a problem with people using streaming services as long as they monetarily support their favorite smaller artists by buying tickets/merch/physical copies of their stuff (assuming they have the means to do so). The current setup of the music industry incentivizes bands to make fewer albums, and that fucking sucks ass.
I came in too hot on my original take here. I didn't really read down past the graphic. I am definitely for reforming the royalty structure so artists get more. I would also pay double monthly if the extra went to the artists. And if a for artists by artists platform came out, shoot I'd be all over that. As long as I could find my favorites there
since I bailed NAU MXC won their 6th natty in the last 7 years and Cola was up over 400K monthly listeners and then we had the third snowiest January on record....so not bad
