Didn’t they make a big deal during the gold cup final that they screwed up that stadium and the field didn’t meet FIFA standards?
Yes but ultimately Vegas withdrew because they didn’t want to spend $100 million to go from 98% hotel capacity to 100% capacity https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/tourism/las-vegas-withdrew-bid-to-host-2026-world-cup/amp/ It’s not like Vegas needs the visitors, is a particularly soccer mad city, or would be able to take advantage of being in Vegas like the F1 race will (and even that is going to be a bit of a nightmare for one weekend).
I think I agree with Carl Anka’s team. LB seems pretty open to your preference. https://theathletic.com/4008254/202...of-the-tournament/?source=user_shared_article
While Adams had a good tournament, it’s a bit strange as he’s the only R16 player selected and imo baffling to select him over Enzo Fernandez for a CM spot.
That was a perfectly acceptable celebration by Emi. You won the World Cup. That’s just the golden glove trophy… Emi can do whatever the fuck he wants. MSM just haters
Buenos Aires has all the pictures but being in that crowd seems miserable, maybe I’m just an anti-social weirdo Let me destroy my body with friends on pisco
In honor of what will forever be known as The Messi World Cup, I am sharing this vid on his youth play and upbringing. I’ve seen wayyyy too many youth matches in my life and I’ve seen nothing that comes close to what he could do. Enjoy!
Actually it is. I hate the fact that this WC took place in a Slave state. At the same time, in terms of the competition, storylines and drama, it’s my favorite WC. The USMNT getting to the knock out stage is a cherry on top.
I wonder how much having it here in Nov/Dec in the middle of everyone's seasons helped to make it such a classic WC? Many guys looked much more in form than your usual summer tournament. So there was less time for teams as a whole to practice together but the players were all in better form. Idk just a thought
Letting the final shape something that isn’t there. Outside of Argentina allowing 2 comebacks, every quarterfinal game on besides England-France was trash If Otamendi isn’t a dumbass, absolutely nobody would be raving about the quality of the tournament. The final was amazing, it was also absolute trash for 78 minutes besides a beautiful Argentina 2nd goal
You're probably the first person I've seen say that the tournamentwas trash. Seemed like everyone, in here and in the media has been raving about the games and how entertaining they were.
The drama was certainly there, the play absolutely wasn’t. Artoo talking like it was so great because players are in form. They play like 11 months every year, when are they not in form Done being salty now
In all the chaos of the game yesterday I totally forgot Martinez made the most important save in soccer history yesterday in the 123rd minute
Ok man. Calm down. I just posited a theory. Heard a lot about how good this WC has been and I put forth my theory as to why. If you don't subscribe to it, that's fine.
The radio this morning was talking about some drama within the French program. Guess Benzima was fit, but the manager didn’t want him. Also mentioned something about his 3rd wife/GF lol
Benzema was announced, or announced himself, healthy on like Thursday. He was technically on the roster, but rehabbing away from the team, back home or wherever. Speculation started that he'd be recalled back to Doha, but he wasn't. Then Giroud was doubtful as of Saturday but ended up healthy enough for the start.
Would a cold Benzema have helped them yesterday? I don't think so. France never seemed to be in the game. Without Otimendi losing his mind and giving up that goal, I don't think France makes it to ET. Mbappe is inevitable, so France was going to eventually score one on a counter or whatever, but France never really seemed to have anything else going. Like, what part of the game yesterday would Benzema have helped in that Giroud wasn't?
He was sent home from the French camp after picking up that injury with the explanation that a replacement would be flown in to take his roster spot. That didn’t happen and Deschamps choose to stick with just 25 which apparently upset Benzema & Co. He’s been training for a couple weeks now and played 70+ in a friendly last week, reports are that he could have been available off the bench in the quarters & semis and perhaps ready to start yesterday. Whether that would have been a good idea or if he would have been effective is another conversation but I can understand his anger at being left out entirely if his spot was just going to remain empty. Thus the social media posts yesterday & retirement today.
