This is awesome because it's all synced up. Holy shit what a season and last race. Watching this made me go back and watch the last 15 laps of the race.

And btw...the last 2 laps of that final race are the perfect example of why this sport has exploded and is going to continue to bring in massive amounts of new fans. It should honestly win an Emmy for a live event.

The production was flawless. There was so much going on with so much information coming in yet it was all perfectly timed and executed. The announcers had the right amount of excitement and shut up when they brought in the conversations between FIA and the teams....drivers and their engineers, etc. They somehow showed all the racing with perfectly timed cut ins of Toto and Horner. Do yourself a favor and watch it again sometime.

Toto coming on the radio with “No Michael No No this is not right” as max accelerated down the straight was one of the most cinematic things I’ve ever seen on live TV

Yep. It was so flawless and perfectly timed that it came across as scripted like something you'd see in a movie.

Absolutely can not wait to see how the whole thing is portrayed in Drive to Survive.

watching the last 10 laps with some distance since it actually happened, I found myself feeling for Lewis a lot more.

I wonder if the spicy engine really only had four races in it. If Lewis lost because of engine failure, would clearly feel that them’s the breaks, but losing because the two worst drivers left in the field - and the more culpable one driving for Mercs’ more or less B team - were playing grabass over 17th is just bonkers.

I still wish they had red flagged the race, giving both drivers a shot on fresh tires and five laps to slug it out instead of one (although maybe as a product just one was better?)

I've never watched an F1 race but somehow started watching DTS while playing poker and now I cant stop watching it. Starting season 3 now. I'm only seeing edited highlights so I probably like some guys that others don't and vice versa and theres some guys they havent shown much at all. So far for me...

    Daniel Ricciardo

    Hamilton

    Leclerc
    Gasly

    Hulkenberg
    Sainz

    Albon
    Russell
    Bottas
    Magnussen

    Max

    Stroll

    Vettel

With drivers changing so often, do you pick a team and just change the driver you root for regularly or do you pick a driver and follow them from car to car? Or is the driver turnovers on the lower level cars and not Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull?

    This one?

At this point, Mercedes thought they’d won the title, because the regulations state that after cars are allowed to overtake the Safety Car, the Safety Car will come in at the end of the following lap (i.e. at the end of the final lap, so there would be just one racing corner).

Instead, race control decided to bring the Safety Car in immediately, to ensure the Grand Prix could finish with an entire racing lap.

Safety car comes in when race director tells it to. Between the race director and the stewards they make ruling decisions. You're a quick learner by self admission. That's one thing you'll learn.

Weird, the rule book says differently. It specifically says the at the end of following lap.

The regulation is then explicit about when the race can be restarted.

It states: "Unless the clerk of the course considers the presence of the safety car is still necessary, once the last lapped car has passed the leader the safety car will return to the pits at the end of the following lap.

"If the clerk of the course considers track conditions are unsuitable for overtaking the message "OVERTAKING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED" will be sent to all Competitors via the official messaging system "

This clause suggests that with the lapped car message having come out on lap 57, then the restart could only come at the end of the 'following lap'- so lap 58, which was the end of the race.

And only allowing those 5 to unlap is a clear indicator of what it was about. Article 48.12 says that the message 'LAPPED CARS MAY NOW OVERTAKE' should be sent to all competitors. It was about getting Max to Lewis with Max on fresh tires. It's clear as day to anyone coming in without bias.

So why is there a rulebook if the race director can just do what they want? Is the race director supposed to follow them and just didn't here? It's not a judgement call by the rulebook. It's in black and white. They just did something different. That's like an NFL ref deciding to make his own calls, fuck the rulebook. You don't see how insane that is? If a DB tackles a WR and a ref doesn't throw a flag bc thats his prerogative, the ref fucked up and the offense got screwed. By the rule, Hamilton got screwed. It's ok, that happens in sports, but weird to deny it.

Anyways, not wasting more time on that. It's clear as day to anyone unbiased.

The teammates being huge rivals is a pretty cool twist to F1. I get why, just not something you see in most other sports.

A ref completely disregarded the rulebook and you're OK with that. They didn't miss it, they knew the rule and disregarded it to get the result they wanted. It's the 1972 Olympics of car racing.

Nope. As Massi said, they went racing. I'm always going to be for them racing a result out on the track when possible compared to ending a race behind a safety car.

If you would have seen how amazing this last season was, you probably would have felt the same way because it would have been the biggest buzzkill ever to have it end with a Williams hitting the wall and that's it.

Enjoy watching your first ever F1 race if you decide to stick with it!

Red flag it, let them both get tires, then go racing for 4 laps. :idk: That'd be fair. What they did was not.

DTS makes it easy to get into it. I think I'll be someone that roots for drivers, not manufacturers. Open to changing that opinion.

Lol come on man, it was a super controversial decision. You're cool with it bc you like Max and didn't want Hamilton to win. That's cool, I get it, but it's pretty funny that you can't recognize your own bias and actually think the call was black and white and the right decision. If the roles were reversed, you'd be pissed and saying F1 was looking out for Hamilton.

There aren’t that many drivers that I find unlikable. I cheered on Max this season to unseat the repeat champion but I massively respect Lewis on and especially off the track. Probably just the ones who are their strictly because of daddy’s money, Stroll and Mazepin. I googled it and apparently Lando and Sergio come from over-rich families but Lando is fucking funny so I’ll give him a pass and both can really race. It does usually take some high family disposable income to help develop a racing talent.
