Dont want to lose him He has been Kirby’s right hand man for years. Was an expert at scouting. Cristobal probly knew him there. Aim was to have Lanning get a head gig this year to then be able to promote Schumann. Schu works from the press box so never called defense.
if UGA plan is to promote Schumann to DC if Lanning gets a HC job then what do yall do with Champ. He can't be content just being an analyst another year can he?
there is some TBD but plan with Muschamp pretty sound (was, bc the Lanning getting passed over thing wasnt the plan) Muschamp got paid by USCe and Florida. We are also paying him well. Very well. Kids are enrolled at UGA now. Everything is now setup in and around Athens. He was basically going to be a lifer absent getting another Head Coach gig. Perhaps Scott Cochran needs more time being off-field.
FTR if he got the job it's well-deserved. It's a huge risk/reward for Miami IMO. I can't complain because he's coached our ILB very well.
I just worry about doing the first time play caller thing with someone that the HC doesn't have a background in. It works for Kirby and Saban bec they actually coach defense. I guess if he's ends up being the hire Mario must really have faith in his ability
no one is entirely sure if he's the main target or not or if he's already accepted it just know there is mutual interest
That's what I'm saying with the risk/reward. I don't really know what you'd get as a play caller but he can recruit/develop ILB's. Also fwiw seemed like most of the ILB's took 2-3 seasons in the system to really hit their stride calling the defense.
Nobody is talking shit about cribby. We all know he is legit. But come on, we can all acknowledge that he likes being THE source. It was 100% hoosier.
last thing he said was depends on his draft grade if its atleast a 2nd he gone if not most likely coming back
if it plays out as brady oc/wr mcclendon rb mirabal ol that’s a really nice core offensively imo would not be sold on coley as qb coach though, but i wouldn’t consider it end of the world or fire mario or anything lol
let Brady be QB coach, Coley do the WRs. Coley and Cristobal together south of I-4 may fall under a RICO statute though
this is my problem with Coley on the staff, Brady isn't a QB coach (WR Coach background) and I do not want James Coley anywhere near my QB room I'd 100000% prefer them to keep Likens and let him coach QBs than Coley who outside of Kaaya brought in the worst collection of QB recruits we've had
Cannot be overstated. I'd honestly prefer he stay out of all offensive meetings and spend all of his time recruiting.
you hire Analysts to mentor QBs and Kickers and the uber specialists. Thats what Georgia does at least. Brady wasnt a WR coach at LSU either. You just want your OC with QB coach title for recruiting purposes, bc QBs want their OC to also be their personal coach. Just how ive seen it for 15-20 years. Most of these QBs have their own personal coaches too if its an actual mechanics thing. Coleys just a dumbass that doesnt understand playcalling. But boy can he recruit.
What? Brady was the WR coach and passing game Coordinator at LSU and he played WR at W&M we lost our QB mentor analyst to SMU with Rhett, so that's another one we have to replace Likens has been an OC and QB coach in several stops, would rather that experience be in the QB room and let Coley be the TE coach and send Field to an off the field role
Kelly will spend the upcoming weekend in Coral Gables on an official visit. He then intends to announce a commitment next Wednesday, which marks the first day of the Early Signing Period. While Kelly is very familiar with the Hurricanes having attended multiple games over the years, it sounds like his outlook on Miami has changed a bit now that Cristobal is in charge. "It's a big deal [that Cristobal got hired] because I didn't really like the other head coach like that," Kelly explained. "It's a big move."
nah, said it’s now 100% determined by grade from NFL if Manny stayed he was out the door though. One of the kids the training staff lied to and had play hurt
Khamauri Rogers dad said we keeping TRob on staff and they hope we keep DVD also. Melvin Bratton says that Earl Little Jr is all cane. Darrius Clemons sounds like he is a cane.
I’m not sure how it worked but Mickey Joseph was the WR coach at LSU as well. So I guess they had 2 WR coaches?
like the TRob news Melvin got hit in the head one too many times the Clemons smoke is real, the dad has some questions that a new OC would answer but that doesn’t sound like it’s getting done soon so hopefully he holds off signing
