i think we’ll bring people in some players (maybe 1-2 more players) i just worry about needing them to hit the ground running and be ready to go, which is probably unfair and a lot to ask, but it’s something we absolutely need from whoever we bring in imo
My starting assumption is that, even looking at the table, first is a pipe dream, with City likely to drop no more 4 points the rest of the year. With that, I’d take the right winger or mid, but only to the extent one can be purchased within the scope of what they’ve been building the last couple of years.
Incoming: Winger is most likely & most needed (we need goals) - I'm on board with adding Mudryk (Ukrainian we were tied with int he summer). ESR coming back & Reiss stepping up might be enough I don't really think we have a spot in MF, with Elneny healthy again & we can't afford a like-4-like cover for Partey... unless it's a long-term option for the future. We have plenty of depth across the back line & redundancies with player having the ability to play multiple spots. Loanees: Marquinhos definitely needs a loan Sambi will likely go out, if we bring in a MF. (His contract runs through 2026, so he still has time to find a role... not giving up on him)
I think it'll be difficult, but there's 6 extra weeks to prepare & negotiate... hopefully they can make it happen,

Need a winger badly. Can’t expect Nelli/Saka to play every match in 2 comps. Drop off behind them is obscenely large too. ESR, as much as I love the boy, can’t be counted on imo the Ukrainian looks spicy, but if we can’t get someone elite then in the summer would all out for Leao
do you trust Rob Holding in an EPL match? also, I think White has been good enough at RB that I'd much prefer he'd stay there than have to move to CB to cover should someone go down for an extended period.
CB is literally the last position of need. Saliba Gabriel White Tomi Tierney Holding We are 6 deep, for 2 spots, with several players adept at multiple positions. Holding is perfectly capable, in the current role, as the 5th defender, to close out matches. We’ll address it when/if Holding leaves in the summer.
I’ll add, you’re not getting a quality defender in the winter window. I do think you could grab a decent mid or forward though. I suspect we will not do anything.

Tomi can play CB we think, but he's never done it for Arsenal and Tierney I don't believe has ever played CB in a back four. agree on not trusting Holding. he has not looked good this season and had his issues last season. right now if Saliba or Gabriel went down I think you'd have to slide White to CB and Tomi to RB and I am not a fan of that. I don't think it's likely they bring in a CB and out of the three positions of need I would have it third, but after having injuries at key positions cost us down the stretch massively two years in a row, I don't understand how you could look at that list of players and not thing there's room for an upgrade in there. that's the mentality that had Cedric starting big games last season or Xhaka playing LB the season before.
Tierney can play LB in a back 3 to the same level as White on the right & LCB easily in a 4, in an absolute emergency.
