And another guy who I'm mostly positive isn't the legal man, although I'm not sure because fuck having any tag team rules, can just come in the ring, two guys can stay in the ring and the non legal one can just pin for the win after... I was joking before, but am serious at this point, does AEW just not have tag team rules? Like I know ECW didn't have the same rules.
They claimed they would on the first couple of PPV shows.... But they haven't really enforced anything at all in any tag match I was just poking a little fun. It was well done.
it's a shame everyone does dives because Darby's are probably the best I've seen, I'm sure it helps that he weighs like 80 pounds allowing him to go full throttle though
why can you grab the ropes for a break in a street fight? Well I guess ropes are OK... idk fuck rules
I'd seen a little of Punishment Martinez in ROH, albeit a couple years ago, so I was somewhat familiar with him, but had no idea he was that damn agile dude's a stud
That Christopher Daniels spot was rough you can hear his head hit. Riho/Britt match was pretty bad and I still cant take Riho seriously and as has been pointed out the tag matches are just clusterfucks because they just allow whatever and its hard to keep track of who is supposed to be the legal man. I went back and watched the Lucha Bros match and at one point Penta just enters the ring with no tag to do a double team and Felix does a move over the ropes to hit Jungle boy and they just keep going forward as if Penta is the legal man after that. Not to mention the tag while Penta is inside the ring but in the corner that the crowd booed. I mean look if they just throw out the rules and go at it thats fine but for gods sake stop this in between shit. It makes it so hard to follow
Real interested to see the ratings this week. AEW and NXT both put on solid shows and did not compete against a major sporting event this week (no baseball). Should go up, but if they go down again it would be a little alarming. Also think (hope) AEW gets a boost from wwe fans sick of the product and giving them a shot. Although again, I would feel bad for NXT getting hurt by the WWE stink
NXT was markedly better this week. AEW seemed pretty disjointed and there were too many tag matches. Didn't really have a good flow, plus didn't care for Jericho needing an assist to beat a handcuffed Allin. Plus, I could watch Lee and Dojakovic fight forever. NXT just felt like it was put together better.
Both slightly down again without baseball. Not a good trend. I was hopeful they'd actual improve. So now we know you can't blame ratings dip on the playoffs.
Also RAW, despite being shitty lately still drew quite a bit higher than both those shows combined. I think we may have to admit wwe is never going to give a product close to what we want, because the crap they do now still easily beats the shows we like combined.
True, but SD is doing even better on a new timeslot (albeit on a major network). Even if AEW doesn't get close to wwe (which I think is likely), i just hope they keep pulling out entertaining shows and don't fall into TNA territory and go crazy trying to compete. Even if AEW settles in as a niche alternative, it's still something else to watch which is good.
I think the issue for AEW is that the product hasn’t been good two of three weeks. I know that may be unpopular but the debut ep and this week seemed to drag and really not do much to set it apart. Some of the talent just aren’t good in ring or lack chemistry or aren’t very over and the lack of promos in ring of video packages hurt them. NXT looks minor league. It’s been the best product. But you tune in and it looks like it’s small time. Especially compared up what we know from Smackdown, RAW and AEW. I also think both products suffer from not having enough sports entertainment. Two hours of just wrestling can be boring.
I agree with that. NXT needs more gimmicky stuff, shorter matches and more "characters" being highlighted. NXT, with AEW's production values would be the greatest thing ever
I can’t be mad that Basketball Wives won the night. It was head and shoulders more entertaining then either wrestling program. Watched it today with the wife on dvr don’t @ me
Watched Total Divas the other night and Nia complaining to the Bellas that Carmela is reckless in the ring is one of the funnier moments on tv this year.
Old people's favorite sport of Baseball vs snarky wrestling shows as an excuse for stealing viewers in the first place seems odd.
Wrestling is niche, even more so in wrestling heavy shows that aren't marketed to kids. I guess the hope is just the ratings stay high enough to keep them on TV and profitable so fans of it can still watch the alternative instead of ending up on POP TV.
Yea that was more my point. Not wrestling in general per say but THOSE wrestling shows in particular.
Such savageness from Bayley, I might be Stanning for her more than Sasha and Becky at the moment. Vince is gonna Vince this up, isn’t he?
I’ve caught some of AEW. Good talents and Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone seem rejuvenated and motivated. The wrestling - too much flippity-flop. Beautiful athletic stuff, but it’s like a gymnastics meet almost. Guess I’m too old school. To each his own.
