He made hundreds of millions of dollars doing it. $5m is cost of doing business. Hope he ends up in jail now.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...ts-alex-jones-sent-sandy-hook-family-n1018541 Oh wow would you look at that, child porn.
They're going to hit him fairly hard with punitive damages. Stuff like this is practically why punitive damages exist, what he did was so outrageous and over the line.
$5 million for compensatory damages is a number that will hold up on appeal, plus all the other families will get in line for their own judgments. Add in the punitives and this will really hurt him.
He's already had to pay out a few hundred thousand because of blatant misconduct during discovery. Are costs included in the $5 million?
It's a mess...you can essentially appeal a case to the Sup Ct who gets to decide what's reasonable (literally defined as a "reasonable multiple"). And precedent is all over the place, but 10X has been held unreasonable (and each result is "case specific"). At a very minimum, it ensures an appeal to the Sup Court. So most cases settle for a fraction during appeal.
Lots of people are saying Alex Jones was busted with child porn, it must be true. This is how he works, right?
Oh shit, I didn’t realize they were using Biff Pettingill as their economics expert. I know that guy very well.
Always love the way he’ll claim the FBI, CNN, etc lie 24/7 while one of the “big questions” about Sandy Hook was some FBI thing supposedly saying no murders happened in that particular town or wherever in 2012.
More often he doesn’t even go so far as to attempt to rope the opinions of other people in; he just states the absolute craziest shit matter-of-factly without blinking.
Someone please tell me he was suffer from this. We know he has been moving millions around, trying to hide it. Hopefully we can capture what we know about. However, that’s probably the tip of the iceberg and he has millions more we will never know about. Is there any chance at jail time? That’s the only thing that would satisfy me at this point.
Wouldn’t hold your breath on these punitive damages being significant either. There are some members of this jury who seem to be Jones sympathizers to some degree.
We’ll see if that’s holds up but I’m sure Bankston and the other plaintiffs lawyers are breathing a sigh of relief which how much has been spent on this case.
