pretty sure most people know when their birthday is
I'm talking about the party, doofus
Can't remember the last party I had. My mom will take us out to dinner, and we might smoke a brisket and ribs and drink some good bourbon at a friend's house over the course of an afternoon. But a legitimate party would send my anxiety through the roof.
I'm working on a project with some Deloitte folks and we are constantly in meetings with them.
Deloitte sends me an two emails today from 2 different people and they both start it off "Hey Baron - I hope you're doing well."
Yeah, we just talked yesterday, I'm doing just fine still.
Edit: Same guy just sent me another email, "Hey - I hope you're doing well." Make that 3 emails within 30mins wondering if "I'm doing well." lol
Are you OK? Need to talk about anything, baron?
I had a 30th bday party.
Just got a text to save the date for a buddy's 40th bday (in November)
Probably relatively new/new to corresponding with clients.
I don’t remember being explicitly told to say stuff like that when I started in public accounting but everyone does it.
Baron they don’t give the slightest fuck how you’re doing if it makes you feel better.
Yeah they are both relatively new analysts and you are right they all do. Just got bombarded with it this morning and was like WTF.
You're right and it goes both ways. They are a pain in my ass.
Worked with a group of them a few years back.
We used to call them Deloitte & Douche
Update: got a 4th one from another girl on their team saying she has to decline a meeting I setup but was hoping I was doing well!
Do they know something I don’t?
Hope you're doing well!
I have an internal clock that lets me know if I should lead with a well wish or get right to it. I think the trigger is somewhere around 3 weeks since we've last interacted.
Same shit, different day? Same here. Now how bout those reports?
Just thought of the most insignificant pet peeve of mine. When someone signs off an email with their name and two lines below that is their name in their signature.
Even worse when the short signoff is some kind of initial they try to go by.
"I hope this email finds you well (I don't really fucking care lol)"
People do the same thing in verbal conversations. Meaningless niceties are part of not being a psychopath
People who put “thank you for your email” in their out of office replies make me laugh. So disingenuous. The level up from this is “thank you for your email it is very important to me”
I am in sales so I say "thank you for reaching out" all the time. but i really mean it i swear!
We should do away messages on TMB.
"I am traveling with VERY LIMITED ACCESS TO TMB over the next two weeks. If I don't engage it's not because I'm a callow drive-by poster."
I prefer to send emails on Fridays and Mondays so I can include a “have a great weekend / hope you had a great weekend”. Otherwise I’m also a wellness check guy. Once you start doing it your emails feel confrontational without it. At least for people not on your team.
I lead off with "How bout them Cocks???????"
Until the losses start to mount.
I don’t mind niceties in an email. I do mind if you ping me with a nicety then don’t immediately respond back when I answer you. You’ve interrupted me now get to the point.
“Hi, Fattus, how are you doing today?”
Ten minutes go by……….
I don’t know what this means.
i have co workers that say "thx" and "yw" in emails and that really bothers me
Love pinging a fattus
And then leaving it disappointed
This shit drives me crazy. People who just send a “Hi RegimentML” and wait for me to say hi back before they send their question are displaying psycho behavior. And even worse when they don’t respond quickly after the initial hi.
My go-to nicety is: “I hope your day is going well so far because I’m about to ruin it.”
Everyone did this at my last job and it drove me crazy. They were all good-ole-boys but we aren't in the damn military.
I’m guilty. I say, “Roger that.”
I had one contact at a broker that would sign emails
me in slack
Doubt it bud, you seen Auburn’s schedule?
I am one of these. Forgive me. Had to explain it to a new hire this week. I'm blaming Smokey and the Bandit as a kid.
Ill drop a TY in a chat
Chat different ballgame than emails
I end most of my emails with:
I've gotten responses from people along the lines of "unfortunately I don't drink - haha" before.
Like dude I wasn't saying you had to take a shot upon receipt of the email.
Well this has now awakened something in me.
Kinda want to send emails saying - "take a shot then review!!"
