it doesnt really approach Entourage in terms of quality. the best part of the show are the best features of Miami.
I know the show isn't winning awards but I love it. Entertaining and the pieces of ass that they stroll around are top drawer.
Supergirl doing coke, The Rock showing his ass, 190# white LBs from Florida State. Even though I there are times I groan at the writing, anything with football has me sold. In his 2nd career as a writer/advisor on authenticity, Rashard Mendenhall has impressed in his ability to consistently be a let down. The intro is just fantastic. I want to go down to the warehouse and start pushing things around.
I still watch but Entourage was actually funny. Only time I laugh during this show is due to the horrible acting and writing. But yeah, football & HBO ...
Just got to where Sizz stops railing some girl to call in a favor to the GM to get some hillbilly fuck drafted
my god i can't stop laughing at the brexit line "jags won't move to london. it's doubtful. not likely with brexit"
I guess my question is ... do you think the writers included it to make us chuckle? Or did they decide on that line after talking with their sources and folks they poll to come up with legit NFL storylines? I'm getting to the point where I can't even laugh at the horribleness of the writing. So more of an eyeroll at that line for me ...
that was in there to look smart and nothing else. like almost everything else on the show, it was unintentionally hilarious. i wouldn't say i hate watch the show, but i definitely go into it knowing it sucks
Ok, thought I was the only one. It starting to make me angrier now. Like seasons 4-7 True Blood angry ...
if you go in thinking its gonna be The Wire then you will be miserable if you go in thinking its gonna be the football/black version of Entourage, then you should enjoy it
Shows don't have to be held to the standard of the greatest TV drama of all time to simply provide quality writing, acting, or story arcs that are interesting. Entourage is always the comparison, but that show gave us one of the best characters TV has ever produced in Ari Gold. Ballers hasn't done anything close to that. It's just bad. Doesn't compare to Entourage at all ...
I said it earlier, but Rashard Mendenhall has been part of the writing team since the start, and his role has only increased. He alone should have a pretty firm grasp on how a NFL team operates, so either he is terrible at his job or his suggestions are ignored. The Dolphins have turmoil brewing between the front office and coaching staff. This is a good time for the GM to hide from the media to putz around on Rosetta Stone while sending the unqualified, inexperienced Asst. GM to hold his first ever press conference. NFL teams just love to say YOLO! and wing it.
If he's the guy that wrote in an LB running a 4.58 in the sand, or a LT using Madden to train as an RT, or a player loaning his financial advisor $5MM in pure cash (or that middling slot WRs even have $5MM liquid in a safe in their house), then I'm not sure they need him writing for the show
the sand run was one of the funnier scenes the show has had so if he is responsible for that, he needs a raise and more responsibilities
Guess I prefer the humor to come from the quality of writing and not because it's so laughably horrible... Whatever he is, ain't no NFL player with $20-$30MM in career earnings (before taxes) that'd be able to shell out $5MM to loan to his manager ...
what? he seemed to be one of the best slot WRs in the league that has been doing this for 8-10 seasons and is on the backside of his career. so it is most def possible i mean he had a separate damn house for his whore parties
Which is exactly why he wouldn't have that much liquid cash. Giving him $30 MM career earnings, he nets about $15 MM after taxes and agents. So you mean to tell me he's saved 1/3rd of his salary in pure cash that he keeps at his house? Plus some good bars? And thinking of whatever else he might have saved in market investments? Sorry just hard for me to get my mind around that as an advisor myself ... Let's be real too how is it none of these guys have any kids yet other than Green? Ricky's been slaying poon indiscriminately for an entire career but has no baby mamas until now?
joe louis i really don't know why you watch this show you clearly take it too seriously instead of just embracing the absurdity
I acknowledge the ridiculousness of the writing as well as the fact that it's entertaining most of the time. if you can't get over it, then stop watching it. you'll life will be better for it
this might be my favorite thing from the show. like how on earth could anyone come up with that shit. i also think about how incredibly boring that would be to do IRL
they have said how much Ricky makes and he has easily hit $20M. He bounces around b/c of his off the field drama. I am 95% sure that the Saints offered him 3 yrs for $30M.
I haven't played Madden in a while, but don't recall you being able to control individual OL. Which was the worst part about that scene. Insult to gamers everywhere... Right. He gets $15 MM of that presuming he plays out the whole contract. Total gaurantee was $12 MM IIRC. Not that likely for a slot WR over 30 to play the whole thing, and he took less to stay in Miami. So if he only got the guarentee, maybe he gets $6 mil over two years after taxes. And hes willing to loan out those two years to his failed manager? It's an amazing, somewhat unbelievable amount to shell out on a personal loan from your piggy bank ...
