Also sounds like he was working his ass off

 

What did he do before? Pres said he went back and forth on the job for awhile and he had to give up a good pension or something.

I actually felt bad for Kmarko. He seems in a bad spot. Then I remembered he’s gotten paid for doing nothing the last year and will be a a multi millionaire soon if he isn’t already. He was also kind of a dick before he got fired. Dave sounds like a pretty shitty manager though.

 

yeah i mean he has definitely checked out after getting demoted, but it seems like thats understandable.

pretty wild that he did time consuming reports for three years to keep dave updated on the blog that dave totally dismissed as taking 5 seconds, that he emailed dave a dozen times to have a 1 on 1 meeting about the direction of the blog that dave totally ignored, dave demoted him after two blogs, one of which dave gave explicit approval for, and he decided to announce the demotion on his podcast instead of actually telling kmarko face to face.

not sure what fantasy world dave is living in, but that is pretty fucked up. if he wanted to demote/fire him then that is his prerogative as nominally being 'head of content,' but it's pretty clear that dave has absolutely zero idea of what happens day to day in new york anymore and hasn't since the penn deal went through and he cased out.

frankly, barstool seems like a miserable place to work unless you're one of the top top people or a 24 year old trying to get famous online.

the shit he said to tyler o'day when he decided to leave, someone who was universally liked and respected, was fucked as well.

i think the new york magazine article that is going to come out next month might legitimately take him down.

its sounds like the reporter has legitimately talked to or tried to talk to over 100 people

pres was newly single after being a total loser through college and his 20s. i can't imagine some of the shit he said to girls online.

i'm firmly a go pres go guy, but the way he treated kmarko really pissed me off. mainly because i've been in a similar situation where your boss has zero management skills and you're just expected to sit there and take verbal abuse even though they have no idea what is going on day to day at your job.

 

They brought him on (seemed spur of the moment too) the Dave Portnoy Show and talked about him getting demoted and all that. Appeared to be the first time him and Dave talked for like a year, and especially about that stuff. Dave just came off unaware like normal and someone who can’t even bother to admit they might be wrong with how they handled a situation.

 

KMarko said he was working 16 hour days to put out a mixed drink book. I’d take anything he said with a large grain of salt

 

I had no idea Kmarko still worked there. He was terrible at his job.

 

Might be one of the best hires in a while by them

 

Big Cat said that he is doing a lot now so that when his kids are older he is around all the time.

 

Have to imagine in a few years he’s probably just doing a podcast only, maybe hosting a show on sirius. Guy is never gonna stop wanting to shoot the shit with the guys and talk sports/betting. I think the ideal situation is him probably just hosting a 1-2 hour podcast 1-2 times a week.

The person who has a number in mind and will work their ass off to hit that number, then immediately walk off into the sunset. And the person who has an axe to grind and grinding that axe actually becomes more important than the money.
