***BBQ Redux Redux thread - All outdoor cooking except whole hog***

First time smoking a meatloaf today and I am a huge fan. A little over 4 hours at 225 and it’s fantastic. Sauce was ketchup, Jack Daniels, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Pretty easy to do and I highly recommend.

Yes. If a date could be nailed down that would be great. So 2 weeks from today exactly is Father’s Day and I am probably out. The Saturday right before is a possibility. 15 days from today is a Monday and I am out as well. Also, some people mean 2-3 if it is a few. I JUST NEED CLARIFICATION JOE STOP BUSTING MY DAMN CHOPS.

 

Lol. I’ll be out there for 6 weeks or so visiting family. Mostly in DFW/East Texas. Will probably have a clearer picture of obligations once there but should be fairly flexible

That’s enough on its own but I will admit my ulterior motive is to get my wife to sign off on a custom offset

Yeah, brisket will be delivered day/night before and we will prep it. And I will put it on at appropriate time.

I’m a product of growing up on BBQ in Texas in the 90s, so Lays are my near peak side game. If I’m feeling adventurous, I’ll heat up some ranch style beans, but I was feeling lazy today

 

Man, plain lays are top notch bbq side, imo

Aint much better than a bbq sandwich or sausage wrap and some plain lays on a picnic table
It just feels right

 

Bodacious chopped beef sandwich with Lays is usually on the menu when I go back home

I used a water pan in my old WSM but never used one in my egg. It would be easy enough to do.

Speaking of pizza, arrived last night. Just in time for me to leave for vacation today so it is going to be sitting in my house unboxed for 1.5 weeks. Almost want to cancel vacation just so I can test it out this weekend.

 

Need a killer vinegar-based slaw recipe. Some mayo is OK, but purely as an accent.

Sorry it’s cut off. This is stored in my phone for grocery shopping and I can’t find the hard copy. It’s literally just make vinaigrette and combine with dry ingredients.

 

My brain is adding raisins to this recipe bc it’s so close to broccoli salad

 

Hear me out... craisins.

 

I would not add raisins. The nuts give you that textural element (with more crunch) and broccoli slaw eats different than broccoli salad.
