Ran a code blue for a 45 m pt that was found down in a backyard. He had been working on a shed and there was a nail gun by him. Obviously wasn't breathing when we got on scene, but his eyes were open and pupils were fixed and dilated. Dude was obviously dead, but we managed to get a pulse back somehow but he still wasn't breathing on his own. He did have some blood on both sides of his neck which was weird. Got him to the hospital, they took him to CT. This dumbass somehow managed shoot a giant ass nail through his neck and sever his phrenic nerve which controls your diaphragm which is the muscle that allows you to breathe. The guy was probably awake but couldn't breathe or move as he lay dying. What a shitty way to die

Wildest thing my dad said he saw working in the ER rotation was a guy sitting upright on a stretcher with a gunshot wound to the head. Outside of bandgage he was sharp as a tack and talking. Turns out it was a small caliber pistol and the bullet was lodged between the two hemispheres of his brain. Went to surgery and ended up being ok. Guy absolutely should have been DOA. One in a million shot

Fair point. I could not find how Sagarin actually determines his ratings. So, I'll go with EMAW causing Mizzou's drop.
