Not sure how today's game is different than the 57 other embarrassing defensive performances by Grinch's defense.
I’m also not sure it’s Grinch’s fault. Riley has been quoted many times saying that he’s just looking for a defense that makes 3 stops per game - however possible - so that his offense can simply outscore their opponents. It’s why their defensive stats are great when it comes to disruption (ie. sacks and turnovers forced) but is absolutely god awful besides that. Unless Riley changes his tune on that philosophy, I don’t think it will matter who the DC is. It’s just an empty suit trying to play his unsustainable style of football.
Well then I guess Southern Cal fans can't complain about today's defensive performance because Grinch got them 3 stops against a G5 team (2 punts and a fumble).
He gets 3 stops regularly. The problem is you’re not going to score 50+ every single game, so 3 or 4 stops isn’t going to be enough every single game. It’s such a tightrope to try to walk for the sake of fielding a high flying offense. I’m sure USC fans will claim “just wait until he gets his guys on defense” but he began to get his guys on defense at OU, and it was the exact same result. He’s without a doubt the best QB developer and maybe the best offensive mind in CFB. But he can’t allow his desire to win via only offense to actually be at the detriment of winning sustainably. I think Ryan Day is beginning to learn that lesson.
Never been to the rose bowl - are all Those people outside waiting for beer and stuff? Those tents are the vendors?
how many rolls on the ground does the catch need to survive? it looks like firm control for the initial ground contract + roll and then lost it on the second one
I get that, but that would be miserable having to walk down, outside, and then stand in those long ass lines
