His name is Dwight Schrute and he’s a barn cat from my wife’s families farm. Absolute mouse killing machine.
So it's become a daily thing for Mew to bring in a mouse/rat and play with it in the house. I'm tired of being nice about it, so I'm catching the damn things and throwing them in the yard waste can to starve to death
Punishing the mouse for existing, instead of correcting your cat’s behavior, seems like a wild approach.
I've tried to talk to Mew, but she just won't fucking listen Local social media reports a significant uptick in mouse/rat infestations in the neighborhood Stanning for rodentia isn't something I expected in a cat thread, but the wonders never cease
Revisiting this - we ended up taking two cats. The one my dad wanted has a tight knit bond with another from the litter. Brought them home where we’ll keep them for a couple weeks and then take to my dad. They’re so cute. Sucks that we have to sequester them in our sun room away from our other two cats. Lots of growling from the adult cats
Can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this thread. Sully with his two amigos. Stanley, almost 2, on the left and Theo, who’s 8, on the right. Stanley and Sully will play off and on throughout the day but Theo still fucking hates Sully
Follow up to this. I’ve learned that most people assume it’s for Kobe Bryant and my wife has just started going with it rather than explaining my infatuation with a S that couldn’t make it in the NFL as a 7th round pick
Our cat, even at 11 still brings in chipmunks occasionally from the back yard. It's not shocking she's still able to catch them because they are the most stupid animals to get out of the house, they'll completely ignore the door leading to the outside world and just completely run the opposite direction. The annoying this is like your cat, Maribelle just plays with them for a bit then just walks aways and we have no idea that they're in the house usually. I've heard my wife on multiple occasions scream randomly after finding one. At our old house I walked into our bathroom only to find a cardinal in there that I didn't hear make any noise. I assume it was the cat at least, but it didn't seem injured just exhausted.
Not going to lecture anyone about how bad it is to let cats free roam, but if you do let them out, please but a bell collar on them. It will greatly hamper their ability to destroy native wildlife.
We generally let her out only a two or three times a day. She may have killed birds in the before but I've never seen her actually kill anything more than small lizards.
Watching cats play fight is funny because it's usually started by one cat and the other cat won't be into it at all
I grew up out in the country so best of both worlds. Cats can go outside and roam through fields/woods when they want to. Also spend lots of time indoors. That’d be my ideal cat owning situation
Have you tried the calming collar? Our cat started pissing all over the place recently and this immediately solved the problem.
Found two beheaded outdoor cats and neighborhood people are always posting about how their cat got out and is now missing. Cats might be killing machines but them coyotes/hawks/psycho teenagers don't fuck around. Keep your critters inside imo.
our younger cat continues to be pretty aggressive towards our older one, tried all the calming collars/feliway/etc but just seems to be maturing cat drama. like an hour a day just hunts her and tries to corner her. hopefully fades
Do they have a friendly or chatty demeanor? I have a cat that’s at least part Maine Coon and it’s like having a low maintenance dog.
Best frand and I Rescued a kitten couple weeks ago, never had a cat before but he’s super playful and loves playing with our dogs. Roscoe
Don’t disagree but my wife is allergic and Abyssinian’s don’t put off the same kind of dander, apparently, and don’t trigger her allergies.
