Reading officially starts May 28 but I'm going ahead and starting the topic. Not sure if I want to read this whole book. Read the first three chapters at lunch. Laughed a lot but didn't get hooked. I was confused a good bit of the time because they kept introducing new characters and it was sort of hard to keep up. And the main character acts weird and has me like  a lot. If I read a few more chapters will I be hooked or am I just retarded and won't like the book?

I really enjoyed it but iirc I was hooked pretty early on. Also, iirc they slow down with introducing new characters, so that should get better. Keep reading a few more and hopefully something jumps out at you, because I really believe it's worth the read.

Not everyone is going to like it, though.

Started reading it 2-3 times and always set it down. It just doesn't 'hit' me.

It's definitely funny, I'll give it that much. "Appleby was nice, funny, good at everything, and everyone liked him. Yossarian hated him immediately."

Felt the same way when I started reading it tonight. Laughed out loud multiple times but was a lot to take in at first. I plan on getting further in tomorrow.

Great book, as is Picture This, also by Heller.

    loved it, recommend it

humorous and has great plot twists, can be boring as some chapters get far too long and redundant

I love this book. Maybe laughed more than any other classic fiction title not named Don Quixote.

One of the smartest, funniest, wittiest books I've ever read. Was amazing, can't believe some of y'all couldnt get into it. Heller wrote a masterpiece in this book.

Downloaded the 70's movie starring Alan Arkin as Yossarian. Interested to see how it compares
