I don’t know jack shit about football analytics as I am a vibes guy like Saban. But I’m fairly certain the analytics do take all those options into consideration. Seems like saban considers what the book tells him but ultimately goes with his gut. Which usually works but can sometimes lead to some questionable decisions on the field. that said you could be like Lane a few years ago and go for it every damn 4th down and we all saw how that turned out. Got to have a balance.
And I guess I never bought into it the LSU hype. They got beat by a pretty average Ole Miss team and looked terrible against FSU. I know we lost to Texas early but we would have won that game if Jalen took care of the ball and I think we would blow them out if we somehow get a rematch against them in the playoff. a bad defense just isn’t going to get you very far in this conference. Kelly needs to clean house over there or get in the portal.

The biggest issue with general football analytics is exactly what Saban mentioned - it doesn't account for who your dudes are or who their dudes are. Now, each team has their own specific analytics/stats about their roster and what they do and the opponent. That makes sense. But the general "analytic charts" stuff that generally gets thrown around in the media and is not based on your specific roster is just horseshit. Any analytical analysis that is based off "FBS stats from the last 10 years" or something is worthless in an actual decision making role. Navy is not Arkansas who is not Washington State who is not Texas Tech. They have vastly different personel, scheme and things they do well or don't do well, and that changes year over year because the personel changes year over year. They have plays and formations that they may or may not have shown or not show on film to date that they feel comfortable with in a certain situation. Football analytics gets lumped in with baseball and basketball analytics and it is not at all the same. Baseball and basketball analytics are MOSTLY used for general strategy, positioning and style of play. It also became a thing because it's based on a specific players performance over 1,000s of samples. Football analytics are used (at least in the way the media discussed it) to determine individual decisions in the game. They either aren't based specifically on a unit or, if they are, are not based on that specific units current situation and the sample is extremely limited. It's not the same at all. Yet, the new wave of internet nerds who make graphs and make logo charts want to make it seem like it's the same as baseball shifting or decisions on whether a pitcher should go through a lineup the 3rd time.
This team has really good chemistry and vocal leaders (something I think we were lacking last season). Also, I think a real sign of Jalen’s growth is that he’s not letting bad plays/drives affect him. With Bryce, you knew if we ever got down that he was gonna answer and Jalen is trending in that direction. If we’d played Tennessee or LSU early in the year I don’t think he’d have answered the way he’s done the last two games.
Don’t think there is any doubt anymore in who our starting QB is next year. Should be a nice and smooth transition into Sayin in 2025.
When there was that shoving match after Reichards PAT, Jalen was grabbing folks screaming at them to stop fighting. Dude has taken on the leader role in a great way
Yea I mean, somebody needs to sit down with him and explain that it's time to go. He was never good at big moments but it's reached a new level of awful since he came back.
*bama player makes the most amazing play of all time and runs 99 yards for a TD Eli: there goes the running back off the tackle and he is in for the Bama touchdown
I’m sure there will still be dipshits calling for a transfer to come in if we don’t win a natty this year.
Saban said before the season that a QB had to step up and force them to play him. It took a little bit longer than we’d all like but that’s Jalen and he clearly has the respect of the entire team.
To be fair, the first person I heard ‘mirin Milroe’s physique was Snakes during Milroe’s freshman season when he had sideline passes.
Caleb Williams should transfer here so that he can prove himself capable of winning games against elite opponents
Totally. Especially since I assume Simpson is probably leaving. But I don’t think we will get anyone with much experience.
No doubt, if there is a serviceable QB who is willing to come compete with Milroe we have to grab them.
Whatever drills they doing to get Milroe in the mindset of picking a lane and just sprinting into it>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I never pulled against Milroe. I was very concerned with his ability to read a defense and make throws consistently, which was fair given what we had seen. Although I thought Simpson would win the job, I did say we could win the SEC with Milroe.
I think this is part of why he's loving this team. They seem to respond exceptionally well to how they're being coached since the UT and USF games
