We were down 8 at half, then UNC proceeded to get 14 offensive rebounds in the 2nd half. And it didn’t matter.
365 days later, heading to Los Angeles to see if we can wrap up our first ever Final Four Sports are something hu?
So proud of this team for going toe to toe with UNC and making the elite 8. Crazy that this is the team that makes the Elite 8. What a job by Nate Oats. They've got to build the arena after this.
We lost to them by 8 last time and they shot 50% from three, while we shot 35%. Theyre a 35% team on the year. Its not as simple as that one stat but if we get a more normal performance from both teams we have a great shot
Worth mentioning, props to that officiating crew last night. One of the best officiated games I can remember. They controlled the physicality of the game without controlling the game itself.
Well everybody's dancin' in a ring around the sun Nobody's finished, we ain't even begun. Take a vacation, fall out for a while, Summer's comin' in, and it's goin' outa style. Well lite up smokin' buddy, have yourself a ball. Cause your mother's down in Memphis, won't be back 'till the fall
Oats said that Griffen demanded to guard Davis during an early timeout. It wasn’t part of the game plan, but Oats believed in his player and that made all the difference. “He said put me on [Davis] and he wouldn’t take no for an answer,” Oats said.
Roll Tide boys. That’s an awesome win. Showed incredible toughness when they went on that 8-0 run and took the lead. Grant was unbelievable—on offense, in rebounding, and on defense. He did it all. I will be gutted if we lose, but long term view, this was an amazing year no matter what happens. This is a flawed team, but I’m so happy. They also seem to love each other. I love Nate Oats.
So glad this team keeps fighting. Could’ve folded these last two games down the stretch like we’ve seen throughout the season. Not this time
Jarin gave us nothing from a scoring perspective last night, but his energy and physicality was noticeably. He defended much better (did have the scheme designed to help him) and had a couple blocks/altered shots and a few grown man rebounds.
Jarin has defended the hell out of guys the last 2 games. I have no idea what flipped the switch, but he's moving his feet and cutting guys off without fouling. Our execution of a difficult defensive game plan last night was wild. We haven't been able to play basic man and help defense and we were playing basically 4 man plus a rover and doubling all over and we continued to rotate properly and not give up easy buckets.
