Sounds like players have been interviewed and could be interviewed again. They wouldn’t travel or play anyone who was in jeopardy of being charged with something
He didn’t say it quite like that. Charlie left out the word no at the beginning of the statement. Nate said no, like I said it’s a pending investigation we all got together last night and the entire remaining team is traveling and available to play.
If that was his way of saying no it was about as bad as you can do it. He gave the “yeah, no like I said this is an ongoing…” But again all players are traveling. So it doesn’t really matter I guess.
I think it’s better for him to have said what he did than make a definitive statement when he likely doesn’t know half the facts at this point.
What if a player lied and told him they weren’t involved or weren’t there and then it turns out they were? He has to cover himself a little bit because he doesn’t know.
is that for football only? Because I thought tons of people bought tickets in the non-revenue sports just for the points. Or maybe that was a thing many years ago that has been phased out?
Hope they get the people in front of us. Different people at every game and often opposing fans. I was surrounded by Aubs at the Iron Bowl.
Coaching staff rumors continue to swirl I don't think anyone was surprised when the news broke on Friday regarding Pete Golding's departure to Oxford. There had been rumors/speculation for a few weeks, but there wasn't much to report. We started hearing more about Golding's likely move two weeks ago. It was a win-win for both sides. Ole Miss gets an upgrade. The Golding era in Tuscaloosa had run its course. I spoke with a source who indicated that Golding had informed certain people prior to the Early Signing Period that he, most likely, would not return. The source told me that he did not spend much time heavily recruiting players during the final two official visit weekends last month. The final three defensive players that signed with Alabama in December- Qua Russaw, James Smith and Desmond Ricks- were not expecting Golding to return prior to their announcements according to one trusted source. FootballScoop first reported the news of Alabama's interest in Southern Miss DC Austin Armstrong late last week. I think any time you bring in a new staff member the first question (from my point of view) is how good of a recruiter is he? We saw what the first year assistants did for Alabama this past year with T-Rob and Wolford. Coleman Hutzler also helped Alabama sign Keon Keeley, Yhonzae Pierre and Conor Talty. Southern Miss doesn't recruit against Alabama too often. The Tide did flip, USM baseball commit Bray Hubbard, last summer. I knew Alabama LB commit Sterling Dixon had a very good relationship with Coach Golding. I am sure Pete will try to recruit him to Ole Miss, but definitely don't a flip there. Auburn and LSU were on his short list prior to his commitment in December. Auburn sent two coaches to his school last Friday. They'll recruit Dixon until he signs. That said- Dixon came out of his Junior Day visit feeling even more confident about his decision. Below are some excerpts from my interview with him regarding the new linebackers coach. (Complete interview) " I trust Coach Armstrong with my life.” “Coach Armstrong was basically telling me that he can’t wait to coach me. He said I am a fantastic player. He can’t wait for me to keep coming up there to visit. “He told me that he may end up being my position coach. We just don’t know yet. I am just going to keep building my relationship with him.” So what's next on the coaching front? We've been chasing more rumors than anything else lately. I've heard 3-4 different things regarding the defensive coordinator search. I continue to hear the same names. I think one thing we forget is- Nick Saban has a process. There are going to be interviews- could be on the phone and/or in-person. There might be some candidates who are currently in the NFL playoffs. There may be one who is having to await news from NCAA. There could be one that nobody is talking about up to this point. Clint Lamb posted his DC HOT BOARD on Friday. I've heard (this is unconfirmed) that Alabama contacted Jimmy Lake (Former Washington coach) to see if there was any interest in interviewing for the position. We've heard UGA DC Glenn Schumman's name a lot during the last week. Coach Schumman and his wife, Lauren, are Alabama grads. It seems to make a lot of sense, but he's also in a good position in Athens, and could wait for a head coaching opportunity in the next few years. Schumman spent time recruiting for UGA this past weekend. I know many are on the Jeremy Pruitt train. We've been hearing the possibility of Pruitt returning to Alabama's staff in some capacity for the last few months. Alabama may need to wait until all is clear from the NCAA before it decides to hire Pruitt for an on-field coaching role. It will not surprise if Alabama opts to bring him back as analyst until everything is resolved off-the-field. Does Alabama make a call to Derrick Ansley or possibly Houston DC Doug Belk? It will surprise me if we go through another week without any news regarding Bill O'Brien. I expect we will see O'Brien return to the NFL. We've heard a few names, but once again unconfirmed. Two months ago- Garrett Riley was a name that was being mentioned, but there was never an interview. So how much interest did Alabama really have? Clearly, not much. We've heard Jeff Lebby and Dan Mulllen's name. Maybe Alabama looks in the NFL. I think all is speculation more than anything- even though all names mentioned are ones that have been brought to our attention behind the scenes. It's just not coming from Nick Saban- that's the only one who matters.
I like how Saban doesn't announce hires when they happen. He just lets them come in and recruit and shit, doesn't say anything.
The whole TidePride stripping folks who sell tickets of the right to buy season tickets seems to make very little sense to me. (1) It's nearly impossible to "make money" selling season tickets on the whole. It's possible, but the margin is very small. (2) You really gonna kick people out who sat through 20 years of shit in the 90s/2000s because they've had 2-3 years of whatever not going as much? (3) The waiting list is almost non-existent. Anybody who has season tickets remembers being offered more tickets last year. Who exactly are they thinking they're gonna give these spots to? I don't have a huge problem with it in principle, I just don't really get it. Especially now. My only thought is they are trying to get in front of the new SEC schedule + Power 5 OOC home games.
That 2005 team has some of the most impressive dudes and football players on it of any Alabama team of our lifetimes. So many successful people.
Nobody wants to sit in the stands. The university dumps tens of millions into the Zone, champions club, skyboxes, university club, loge, etc. but haven’t done hardly anything to improve the experience for the folks in the stands. i have two season tickets in tide pride and even if I sold every ticket there’s no way I would even turn a profit. Definitely not this past year. Maybe 2023 but like SOG said best case you’re breaking even. hopefully they’re not really going after resellers. Because the market barely exists. Most folks are just trying to unload the shitty games(of which there are too many)
I get a personal call from an associate AD every July Bammer I'm basically lowest donation level Tide Pride royalty nbd or anything
We're about to hire a badass OC and DC. Then we're going to win the SEC regular season and tournament. Then we're going to at minimum the final 4. Fuck everything else.
