Every single pick…gives away a 5th and next year 2-4th to move up 4 spots cause he was worried his guy wouldn’t fall. Every draft.
A lot of buzz that the bears are talking to multiple teams about trading back in the draft. this kinda makes me believe that they have their guy and he’s not a big name.
they might grade the next tier of players like weight and Nolan smith similar to guys that are going ahead of them in mocks
I think if Carter slides they stay and take him, most other scenarios I bet they try to move back and pick up a higher 2nd
They still have a ton of starting talent that needs upgraded not to mention raising the floor of the depth. Trading back makes the most sense. Picking up a early 2 this year and 3 next year to drop a few more slots and still take a OT or 3T is how you properly work the draft and build a roster.
His tape (for a 3T) is top two in this class. Not saying he's Donald but that's the hope. Measurements has to be a concern though because for him to hit the top end projection he would be an outlier at the position.
So he turned 9, 61, 64 into 17, 32, 49 some how (9 for 17, 32 then 61 and 64 for 49 I’d guess). But I don’t know how he gets 8 and 14 next year, Chi picks first in round 2 so you’d think they’d have a repeated draft order (picks 1 and 9).
Yeah, but in all the other rounds it has Chi picking 1st so I’m assuming the program is just repeating 23s draft order for 24. So it should be picks 1 and 9 in 24. Not a big deal at all because it’s a mock draft for an order that hasn’t been established but just a funny note.
I'd be floored if he goes top 10. Hartline says he's a top prospect but he makes some bonehead plays and drops too many passes. Marvin Harrison is a top 10 guy IMO.
There’s no way. They must be hearing rumblings someone behind them want him and they want to raise the value for the pick.
I love Bijan… but I’ve firmly hopped on never taking a RB or TE in R1. TEs generally take 2-3 years before really blossoming. RBs your not going to want to pay that 2nd contract for a r1 RB.
I was just thinking this the other day…. Is there another city that gets more run out of “hometown kid” than Chicago? Seems like it’s always more of a story than other places.
I personally wouldn't want to gamble on him. He might turn out great but it's too many flags for a team that can't miss with its FRP. Give me OL.
Tearing down talents a week out the draft don’t have me shook. Sign me the fuck up for Carter @9. I think the Lions would be idiots to pass on him earlier but we will see
Poles seems pretty damn risk averse with his moves so far. With the amount of homework they’ve done on the kid if he thinks he’s worth it I’m not going argue against it.
Versus Traded down like a dozen times last year Punted on Ogunjobi Shipped off Roquan Didn’t hand out insane offers with all the FA money Pulled out of Mcglinchy and Orlando Brown Wouldn’t match Det for Monty Traded #1 super early Résumé definitely seems more cautious to me.
Trading #1 is extremely risky If there's a franchise changing QB in this draft and Fields doesn't pan-out, that's going to look real bad on him
This is good but the bears moved from 20 to 11 and had to give up a future first. I’d rather get that
That would be 100% revisionist. You could attempt to make that argument if there was a sure fire franchise guy like Burrow or Lawrence out there but there’s not. Add to the fact that Fields has (while still needing plenty of work) already shown what he has and the glaring holes all over the rest of the two deep and trading out was absolutely the right call at the time. Is it possible that Fields ends up a bust and one of Young or Stroud becomes elite? Sure, but neither is overwhelmingly likely and amassing high picks is unquestionably the right call given the makeup of the board.
Trading the #1 pick is risky. I don't see how that's controversial. You run the risk of looking like an idiot by passing on someone great. You can also look like a genius.
Why would it look bad? There’s no question that Fields did more than enough last year to warrant building around him versus replacing him with two years left on his rookie deal. The only thing that could be questioned is whether they got enough back.
Next years QB class looks better than this years. If Fields sucks this year, you should have a high enough pick (along with Carolina’s 1st to potentially trade up) to get one of the top QBs in 2024.
I want Darnell weight but also have no clue how the first 8 picks are going to shake out. Feels like you can’t drop back 10 spots and still get him
