Caleb played his best ball of the day in the 4th and when the game got tight, we normally don’t see that in our QB’s.
It's an unfortunate loss due to how hard the schedule is ROS. Im interested in how the team responds. Washington has a good offense, I thought we did well given our injuries
The only concern I have with him is the accuracy. He misses a few too many throws. That said he is only a rookie and everything else looks good, the decisions are nearly always correct and his feel for the game is amazing. Him calling plays at the line can’t be helping him in the short term and maybe accounts for some of those accuracy issues. Daniels is great but we saw today that the balanced attack is critical to their success. Once we started to stuff Robinson they were really blunted.
Could be the difference between making and missing the playoffs. Stealing games like that is important. Regardless, this is still a building season. Waldron needs to be a lot better though if they're going to bring him back.
After that first quarter it looked like Kingsbury was going to be able to go up and laugh the Bears for not moving forward with him. Maybe we saw though beyond that why the Bears passed on him? The talk is always on how his system slows down in its effectiveness throughout the year. That said, I’d still kill to have him over Waldron. The suggestion that they wanted a long term fit and were worried that Kingsbury would be hired away quickly because of how good he is is wild if true.
This is what’s infuriating. Caleb’s HS team could have played that Hail Mary better. You ALWAYS have one guy deeper than the deepest the “savior”. Everyone knows this. Why did they have a spy not rushing? You think he’s scrambling for 60 yards? Why isn’t Kmet in there, Belichick always had Gronk play those jump balls. It’s beginner Hs coaching points that they screw up.
Biggest positive though? Caleb was absolute dog shit but still drove down to the 1 yard line twice in the 4th. He’s a winner.
Looks like Tyrique fucked up. He's the deep guy and for some reason goes all Leroy Jenkins trying to tip the ball.
He should probably lose his job if Terrell smith is healthy. The bad isn’t worth the few picks he comes away with
I’m not defending Eberflus but what he does is more feckless than blaming the players. He just says to every answer in these right after game pressers that he just needs to see the play again so he can evaluate process. Just a complete cop out because he doesn’t want to give an actual answer. He’s sure as shit not taking any blame though.
Also, Jaylon was jawing with him before the Hail Mary. Who knows but honestly could see Jaylon asking the questions we’ve been asking and Flus just waving him off.
Montez I understand, there’s clearly something he’s playing through, if he further hurt whatever has been bugging him on a Hail Mary (that a HS could defend) I’d be pretty pissed. Load Booker, Walker, Taylor, Dexter on one side of the line and don’t give the injured QB 13 seconds.
So over this coaching staff There are other quality defensive coaches who can take over what Flus has done with the D Waldron keeps finding a lower standard for worst play call of all time. Was pleased when they put in the Kramer goal line package weeks ago bc it solved their problem of being cute down there. Just run power behind big blockers. And then Waldron couldn’t help himself but get cute out of the anti-cute package. And just the timing of that call too, it’s 1st and goal on the 1 and you haven’t pissed a drop offensively all day and you’re gonna get cute? Get stuffed Waldron I hate you.
it’s pretty clear Flus will never be the head coach of a Super Bowl winner. He might get into the playoffs some but he’s not that guy. Problem is I don’t think Poles has the guts to replace him if the bears win 8-9 games
The rookie QB has more awareness than the HC. Jaylon was pissed about something as well because he was screaming at Flus before the Hail Mary.
we are 11 and 13 since the start of 2023. He's responsible for no less than 4 of those loses. You could argue a few more but just the flat out horrible head coaching that's led to epic collapses. Its 4.... He's got to go...
He's not even Poles guy... Flus was selected by George and Poles agreed to embrace it. This dude is gone... This year could've been a "lets go win" year, instead its a "let's find out who can play with Caleb" year and that includes coaches.
I hope you’re right, I just don’t think so. also the more I hear him talk about what happened the more mad I’m getting. I get he’s not going to come out and say hey I blew it but come on
We need a proven play caller and QB developer as HC (Ben Johnson) and an upgraded OL (I want LOTS of new faces in that room). But think about it, two (2) completely galaxy-brained goal line sequences from our saboteur play caller (Indy, Washington) separate this team from being 6-1. Don’t talk to me about the Hail Mary, that was a ball don’t lie moment for how bad the offense was yesterday. 6-1 with this roster would actually completely vindicate Poles even with Claypool and Velus lingering as skeletons in his closet. Offensive play calling on the goal line and Eberflus's oversight thereof are to blame.
(I really don’t want any new coach to overhaul the defense, we have a really good roster to play a bend-don’t break, vision on the QB type of defense that was successful for a long time under Lovie. It will keep us in nearly every game (it has) to allow Caleb to flourish and eventually be hard to beat on offense).
Kmet, JJ, and Byard all publicly called out the coaches. Flus and crew are done. Just hope Caleb continues to grow on his own so Johnson doesn’t have to tear him down and start all over.
I mean we needed a come to jesus moment after week 1 and 2 and they had to ask the staff to coach them harder and call them out more... now we have Kmet out here talking about players being lazy during the week and not putting the extra time needed to be great. It sure sounds like Flus is running a tight ship... Mr. Hits
We all should've know at his opening presser when he introduced that corn ball HITS stuff this was going to fail. I love how some people are like "He's clearly not a superbowl winning coach" Fuck the superbowl he's not even worthy of being a nfl head coach.
