hopefully we can shut the fuck about the past after this off-season if not feel free to start a spin off thread called "fuck Theo/Hoyer and Ricketts" and you guys can cry a river over every transaction since winning the world series.
Stop gap CF till Davis is ready… no problem with the deal Can play some at 1B in a platoon role with Mervis
Morosi has been the only one saying it recently. Feinsand seems more plugged in on the situation though and said the Mets seem to be in front and want him a lot. I took that taillon signing as a punting of Senga. If the cubs sign another pitcher, it’ll be bassitt or kluber
If we do sign Bassitt does that mean the end of Kyle. We would have a pretty deep starting rotation at that point and Kyle really has been washed for a few years now. Or do you think Kyle sticks in the rotation and Thompson and Steele piggy back each other as a super starter with one coming out the pen
Looks like Wilson's market was extremely light... And lol at all you fools who believe these players who proclaim to love a team and fan base so much that they turn around and sign with its most hated rival.
Steele needs to be in the rotation , Thompson I think thrives more in a 2-3 swing role and he's dominant at that. Who knows how durable Steele will be. I think if we land another SP Hendricks would be out but who knows. Roll a 6 man rotation
He was asking for 4/80 from the Cubs. He got less AVV and had two suitors one of which accepted a deal at the deadline only to back out and say no thanks.
5 for 87.5, ya what a thin market. Second biggest catcher contract after Realmuto. Lucky he even has a job.
At this point I feel like you get Correa or you just pack it in. Maybe trade for the A’s catcher or one of the Bluejays. Swanson as the big fish doesn’t really move the needle. Sure it’s a upgrade and an above average bat but I feel like you need a star and he’s not that. This is where I align with those who are critical and say where the fucking Cubs with all this money… make a OMG deal for Correa.
Yep, don't get outbid for Correa at this point. If you're going to overpay, overpay for a no doubt stud. And overpay whatever it takes. If he decides to go elsewhere for other reasons, that's different...just don't get outbid.
Correa is an incredible need but this team is still probably not a playoff team without some big surprises
Count me as one who is seeing these contracts and is totally ok with NOT getting any of these guys if they're all wanting 10 years. That's just a stupid contract and half these guys will be well in the decline half way through those deals.
You have to be the most insufferable person on this board...at least when it comes to the Cubs. I bet you tell at your TV.
sorry I don’t boot lick billionaires who bilk the fanbase so they can pump millions of dollars into Republican campaigns
I just said they need and should sign Correa. I’m not going to cry till whoever signs him is actually announced. but like I said it feels like Swanson is going to be who we land and it’s very disappointing
Even if they get Correa they just let their best hitter walk. They really need two big bats or someone is going to have to surprise next year. And they still need a top of the rotation starter
Signing Correa and trading for Murphy fixes the lineup. That’s what I’m calling for… I don’t think the Japanese pitcher is considered an ace so that boat has sailed. I think our rotation is good enough that if we land those two guys we should be in the race for the division
Are the A’s going to let go of a 5 WAR catcher under team control? Do the cubs even have the prospects for that?
They have been shopping him at the winter meetings. I believe so… I think Bleacher Nation had a tweet or article with a possible package.
