i mean he also said that if everyone else under 42 wasn’t staying in he isn’t either He was making fun of himself fo hanging out with people half his age?
I guess my next question is what would it take for you to stop supporting them, if the rest of the content stayed the same? If potentially contributing to the deaths of thousands of people doesn't move the needle, I'm a little uncomfortable at what it might take. I suppose the easiest response to this is that his tweet didn't potentially contribute to the deaths of thousands of people, but I'm not sure how that position can hold water when his supporters are as rabid as Barstool fans are. Shitloads of people ape everything he does, which is why Barstool has gotten as big and as valuable as it has.
Are you suggesting that it’s because of a Dave Portnoy tweet? That’s giving him a lot of credit... I think people, particularly young people, are selfish and dumb. That, coupled with idiot politicians refusing to take timely measures to take away opportunities for massive exposures, has made for a really shitty situation. Of course, influential people downplaying the risks certainly adds to that. Anyone who does that is acting recklessly and deserves to be shamed.
Clay working on Gore’s campaign is odd because Clay seems like one of those black “W the president” bumper stickers come to life.
No no guys, he's not actually a stupid, conniving piece of shit. That's just the character he plays online
Guys he was just joking when he said he would fire all of his employees for trying to unionize. It was clearly a joke you didnt get when he said that. Didnt you see the totally-not-scripted video of him writing a check to some firefighter's charity that he totally didn't want put online? He's a good guy irl
Portnoy is no different than any other dipshit on the grift. He’s found fertile ground with the far right conservatives and that’s why he’s on Fox News, going into NASCAR.
Thank you for answering the question, and I certainly don't believe that any single person/statement/tweet/etc. has "made" anybody do anything. However, when the literal result is the death of tens of thousands of people, I believe those who helped cause it bear some serious responsibility. Portnoy is especially noteworthy, because this type of thing is EXACTLY the type of dude that he is. Nobody in the world would say that his spitting in the face of people trying to save lives in this situation was out of character for him. My opinion doesn't matter, so I'll get off my soapbox, but it's pretty disappointing that reasonable people just don't give a shit about others if the link is moderately amorphous.
It would be better if you and every other stoolie just said that you can separate the stuff you enjoy from the people who make it instead of defending this piece of shit and his company all the time
the piece of shit drove traffic to his website by stealing images from the facebook pages of college girls
One sport very tentatively expected to start, without fans, on time in August, the stock market is way down, unemployment is sky high and the president hopes deaths are under a quarter million. I bet all you idiots who thought this would be bad feel real stupid right about now
Ii like clays math that flu deaths for a while year + covid deaths for 2 months < flu deaths for the whole year
Someone respond to his Chris Johnson tweet: “The last time a Titans running back tried to murder something it was your wife’s pussy.”
I hope he gets it. But truth is he probably is taking it seriously but plays that gross role for clicks, which is more gross than just being an idiot.
Declare victory and know that your supporters and too fucking stupid to figure out they are being conned
No one on the internet makes me angrier. I hate how much I actually hate him. Inflicting emotional and physical pain on him occasionally crosses my mind. That’s super weird for someone you’ve never met or directly impacts you. Guess he’s doing something right?
There should be a publicly available list of all his supporters so I know never to engage with any of them. It’s somewhat scary that people believe the shit he spews.
because those same people don’t care to actually research for themselves and just repeat whatever he says like it’s gospel
I hate him. He used to be halfway entertaining when he was part of an afternoon radio show in Nashville, but the shit he does now is insufferable.
This killed me: " By mid-March Clay Travis’ view was that social distancing was for old people, people with obvious COVID-19 symptoms, and pussies. Neither the death rate nor total deaths would come anywhere near the flu, the economy was going to be just fine, and the vast majority of us will not be impacted at all. So, you know, not great Bob. "
He’s a troll. Hit pieces just give him more clicks and ammo for his followers. The best way to deal with a troll is to ignore them (trust me, I’ve bedded a few)
Guys, show a little respect for the author of the #217 best selling book in the Conservatism & Liberalism category!
