I can’t place my finger on why exactly, but I loved the bad boy of karate, Mike Barnes, in every scene he was in.
I’ll watch every season of this show they put out. That said this did seem like they were ending it just in case it doesn’t get picked up. Cobra Kai seems dead. Silver isn’t going to do any time. He has a ton of money and he isn’t getting convicted on the word of a liar. They could create a new antagonist but idk if it would have the same appeal without the history. I guess 1-2 seasons of them competing in Japan.
Well not have to, you know what I mean, they did introduce that towards the end of the season. So I would assume it would carry over to the next season.
this entire scene was perfect. from the search history to the fumigating while drinking beer. all of it.
Unpopular opinion but I found this season a struggle to get through. I started watching the day it was released, and only just finished it. It was far too cheesy, and it's basically become Power Rangers for teenagers.
The whole show is cheesy af. I enjoy it for what it is. That said, the way the finale played out was a bit of a let down.
I'm all for a bit of nostalgia cheesiness, but this season was cringy imo. The acting is pretty terrible and the dialogue feels like it was written by high schoolers. I think it will be looked back on as having gone on a little bit too long.
Fair point, but I just felt it was a bit too much this season. Anyway, I dont want to derail the thread, just my opinion. As you were.
I just finished it up. I definitely still enjoyed the season, but it was definitely cheesier than previous seasons. The female karate master was so damn over the top. I don’t think they needed her arc
first half of season 5 was as good as season 4 imo. not a ton of focus on the kids and very little daniel. second half of season 5 felt like seasons 2/3. way too much kids drama + too much daniel.
Not really that surprising. It's getting harder and harder to hide that the HS kids are all in their early-to-mid 20s Show has been fantastic and I assume season 6 will be just as good.
I'm always sad to see a series that I've enjoyed end, but I'm also the type who appreciates conclusion before I get bored or distracted. This is probably the right time for the reasons you listed. I've quit on too many shows after waiting too long to find out what finally happens while sitting through too many recycled and tired story lines. With each new (old) villian or ally brought back into the Karate Kid world, I can imagine it's been tougher to write the twists and turns in a way that doesn't get redundant and stale. They've done well with it, but I feel if they push it to far to make everybody fit, they will lose the quirkiness, nostalgia and charm that's made the show so much fun. Going international is already pushing it. So I'm excited for season 6, but am somewhat relieved there's a plan to wrap it up while it's still the fun little show it's been. You can only ride nostalgia for so long. Trust me, I know this as a lifelong Notre Dame fan.
God I love this show. Daniel and chozen just straight up left Amanda at some dingy gym in a bad part of town by herself with a bunch of unfriendly people to chase some random guy who ran out the back.
