Jack Hughes needs to play college hockey next year. What he’s doing right now is absurd. Of course I am probably a bit biased because if he plays college hockey it’ll only be in Ann Arbor but I think we are all owed the opportunity to see a legit #1 pick play college hockey.
Score two goals. Put everyone at the top of your own crease the rest of the game and hope the other team doesn’t score. Jeff Jackson hockey. Even if we win, this style of play sucks.
Crazy weekend of hockey at the X...lots of scoreboard watching. I thought we were done last night and then Clarkson comes from 3 down in the third to win in overtime and give today's game against Duluth some importance. If we won today we "just" needed the favorites to win in the ECAC and Hockey East games and if we lost today we would have still been in with the favorites winning the ECAC and Hockey East and with Tech pulling upset in the WCHA(which they did). BU wins and that was it for us but watching Minnesota needing only 1 game out of 6 to go their way to get in and seeing all six things go against them was at least a little consolation. Out of the teams left, I would like to see the following teams win in order. SCSU UMD Air Force Michigan Tech Cornell Denver

Hope missing the tournament makes it easier to part ways with Lucia. Appreciate what he did for the program, but it's time for new blood. Unlike last time, though, when it was Lucia or Blais, there isn't really an obvious hire. I'm sure Guentzel would get the first look, but I would prefer to have someone with head coaching experience. Also think it is too early for Potulny, though it is a promising start for him at NMU. I could see him hiring him the next time around, but not now. Ideally I would like Motzko as the coach, but I have trouble seeing him leave SCSU. Nate Leaman would be interesting, although with his ties being out east, I wonder if that would hinder his chances. Maybe Steve Rohlik would get a look?
Breaking the all time US season scoring record for an under 17 player is even more ridiculous when you consider he did it in 15 less games than Keller and Kessel, and spent half his games playing with the U18 team as a 16 year old.
Can anyone give the low-down on Adam Gaudette and Henrik Borgstrom for a college hockey noob What are their NFL prospects like and skill sets?
I went to the majority of Northeastern's home games this year. He and Dylan Sikura were soooo fun to watch together on the same line. He is a pretty big kid with a hard shot. He is an intense guy who gives good effort at both ends of the ice. He was seemingly always in the perfect spot to receive a Sikura pass and put it past the goalie. He has pretty good hair to boot he was really really impressive in shorthanded situations this year IMO. His physicality always impressed me when the Huskies were down a man
Not a great 1st period for the Irish. Longer Michigan tech starts close, the tighter it's going to be for us. Need to get that one to take a lead
Love how we opened up a bit after giving up the first goal. Scored two quick ones after that. But now we’re back to turtle’ing and collapsing on our own zone.
i saw the michigan tech goal, had to run somewhere real quick, just came back to us up 2-1, so that's neat. don't like the second point there, though.
It’s Jeff Jackson hockey, so it’s gonna happen. I just wish we didn’t do it as much against teams we have such a talent advantage over. Allowing your opponent to control play gives them more chances for fluke bounces to determine the outcome. Getting out-shot 15-4 in the second period vs the 15 seed isn’t a great look.
It’s how they always play whenever they get a lead. Granted, it generally works for ND, especially with the guy between the pipes. But it’s a scary proposition in a single elimination format. Would like to see a sustained forecheck here or there.
Well I understand trying to be responsible defensively with a lead and trying to take away big chances but this style of hockey should not lead to 15 shots in a period.
Would be interesting to watch Notre Dame and a Mike Eaves coached Wisconsin team back in the day. Notre Dame skates to center ice and dumps it in and sends no one in on the fore check and then Wisconsin skates it to center ice and dumps it in and sends no one in on the fore check...rinse, repeat.
If we’re not counterattacking or on the PP, we’re kinda apathetic to the whole offensive pressure thing. We do counter exceptionally well though.
Doesn't it seem playoff/tournament OT always ends with one team nearly scoring the winner and then giving it up on the next possession?
Welp, gets your bets in for ND losing tomorrow...cuz I’ll be in attendance. And my track record sucks.
Enjoy yourself, never went to a ncaa hockey game. Heard it’s incredible from a few of my friend that went. I am definitely doing it sometime, hopefully at Nd on a Friday night before the football game.
