I don't worry about the food supply, but as this evolves I'm definitely concerned about distribution.
Just printed a test run using regular filament. Ordered the special filament that is supposed to be here next week. Print time on a MakerBot is about 3hours per mask using a little over 70 grams of material.
It pisses me off so much Congress is dicking around on writing people checks. Undoubtedly there are a bunch of people that need money now.
This reminds me of the Athens Credit Union ATMs that would let me take out $1 increments. “Yes...yes, I would like to withdrawal $17”
It's pretty disgusting we havent revised the sanction situation with Iran... but that said, who has enough supplies to provide the relief anyway? Terrible.
In all seriousness, let your local health officials know. I’m sure they will take all the help they can get. Good work. Maybe we can start a tmb fund to help pay for materials for anyone willing to help make masks.
Don’t be. Manufacturing is the only problem point. Well, unless you’re referring to raw product distro.
The problem is “people needing money” isn’t what many of them are trying to deal with. The fact that at least one draft had those that “need money” the most receiving smaller amounts tells you all you need to know about that. This isn’t a relief for families process to them, it’s an economic stimulus package.
Both distribution and POS. Supply also might become an issue for harvesting some crops with the border and movement restrictions. Most people aren’t giving this a second thought. There’s a built in American presumption that there will always be food at the grocery store, whatever I want and whenever I want it. At first it was TP, but talk to people in various parts of the country and most everyone is reporting it’s becoming more difficult to get everything you want. Now huge swaths of the population are at home and have no food options other than the grocery. Plus we likely have a ramp up of cases and fatalities coming over the next few weeks, it’s only going to provoke reactions and panic in some cases., and a run on the stores. Stockers and cashiers are going to get sick and staffing will become an issue.
