They are greasing the skids for the reduction of preventive measures. Get money into wallets. Americans vote their wallet...it is known. When the 2nd wave hits in the Fall it will be too late to impact the election.

Boomers who can push the work down to younger partners in their practice, yes. Think along the lines of those already toying with the idea of retirement and wanting to avoid risk. Heard a similar story from a few doctors and dentists.. more than 10 ETA: I was disgusted when I heard about doctors wanting to take an extra $600/week, don’t get me wrong. Anecdotally, I know newly-minted docs getting involuntarily furloughed which I posted a week ago ITT. Think you have your head in the sand on this one. That you know of a few altruistic older docs in that scenario doesn’t mean it’s commonplace over the country. Keep in mind that the 12,000 out of 700,000 stands in reference to 10,000,000 confirmed unemployment applications that will catch up when the Fed re-does their monthly survey in a couple days.

Every now and then, when I let my mind get to a dark place, I think about the number this is gonna do on kids as they grow up. My dad had a fever last week so both parents got tested. Found out today they were negative. What a relief.
My roommate is back in Australia and tested positive for covid-19 roughly 2 weeks ago. Got another test today after 5 days of no symptoms and still positive.
Can’t get over how pleased I am. I’m my moms only kid (33) but my dad has daughters that are 45 and 40. Aka he is old.
this is a major concern. We don’t have enough tests and our current guidelines are that if you haven’t had a fever in 72 hours “you are probably good.” There is anecdotal evidence of people like your roommate who that isn’t true with. Based on our current guidelines he can go out in the world and continue to infect people. This is why having more tests is so vital.
