https://www.orlandosentinel.com/cor...html?outputType=amp&__twitter_impression=true Some more reporting and info on the “small” business loans some highlights Ruth’s chris made $42 million last year and paid $41 million back to shareholders with dividends and stock buybacks. they received $20 million from the small business loan pool dave and busters made $300 million in stock buybacks and dividend payments last year. They have applied for a $10 million loan (no word on if they got it but my guess is yes). Choice hotels, which owns 7000 hotels nationwide, lobbied for the provision that major hospitality/restaurant chains could get the money if the individual location had 500 or less employees and have applied for it. On a side note, many of these large institutional real estate owners will also be able to benefit from the major tax deduction that real estate owners and hedge fund managers will lose to save millions. meanwhile, they are now lobbying for PPP round 2 to have less protections for workers because “they want to strengthen the company before hiring people back.”
WaPo has a nice compare tool (bottom of their page) https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/national/coronavirus-us-cases-deaths/?itid=hp_hp-banner-low_web-gfx-death-tracker:homepage/story-ans
Those parents need to tell their kids to do their homework instead of bragging about how they get out of work
Ok since you seem to be well versed on the SBA loan program why don’t you explain how it works to all of us. that mark Cuban guy probably doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
who on the left is on par with trump? This just seems like a desperate attempt to “both sides” things.
how do you determine “should get” and what that means for each company? I can guarantee there are plenty of people who will milk that systems out of billions and billions and we likely don’t have the time and resources to fully means test it. I like your idea in theory but I don’t think it’s possible in reality.
he said fuck you because of your “I’ll vote 3rd party” comment. He sees that as allowing the pain and suffering you are against to continue. I am far from a Biden guy but a vote for anyone other than Biden in Michigan is a vote for trump. How can you not see that? It does make you appear extremely selfish and privileged.
Ok this isn't as bad as I was thinking. Interested to see how it goes. Beaches will be open from 6 to 11 a.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. daily with some restrictions, according to Jacksonville's website. Recreational activities like running, biking, hiking and swimming will be permitted during this soft reopening, the city's website said. Activities like sunbathing or any type of group activity will not be allowed at beaches during the restricted hours and items like towels, blankets, chairs, coolers and grills will not be permitted on the beach.
The criteria used now isn't actually bad. They added too many loopholes for rich and big companies but otherwise it works.
It all depends on enforcement. If they are lax on things, it’ll quickly devolve into a super spreader situation. Where I live in Cali, they initially tried to keep the beaches open for stuff like the mentioned but people abused it, so they had to lock it down.
Every member of the Democratic caucus needs to be in front of a microphone saying this exact thing, and before they finish, they need to challenge the Republicans to respond.
Your friends are dying because of politics. It’s entirely appropriate to talk about who you vote for.
to be fair I feel like ‘joggers’ are the type of people who have access to masks assuming they’re the same kind of affluent lululemon wearing types teeming in Nashville’s sidewalks and parks. There’s any multitude of ways to get cotton masks — people have caught onto how much they can profit by making cool/cute/novel (teehee)/Instagram ready masks that people will eat up even if they don’t believe they’re a necessity.
Yep. You can make a bandana mask in 15 seconds with a couple of rubber bands and maybe a filter of some sort to go b/w the folds. Much better than nothing if you're exposing your germs to others. Solid social distancing
“I’m not actually a nazi I’m only being ironic” is how this whole mess got started in the first place. They were always nazis.
We could have a whole thing on this alone (I think we already have at least once actually) but I've been aggressively avoiding other people when running because I don't really consider masks as viable for running. If I do have to pass someone I make sure to duck my head (I usually have a hat on with a visor too) and make it obvious I'm trying to avoid the slimmest possibility of being a problem for them.
Throat feels much better but still have a raspy voice. Just brought groceries in and I’m really winded from it. Still have a cough but still no fever. Metallic taste is gone and I have my sense of taste and smell so no clue what that was.
don't be such a victim. There's tons of DIY options that have gone viral recently you can do quickly with typical household supplies.
1 hour ago Lauren Tuck Sunlight destroys virus quickly, new govt. tests find From Yahoo News: Yahoo News obtained a report showing preliminary results from government lab experiments show that the coronavirus does not survive long in high temperatures and high humidity, and is quickly destroyed by sunlight, providing evidence from controlled tests of what scientists believed — but had not yet proved — to be true. This news offers hope that summertime may offer conditions less hospitable for the virus, though experts caution it will by no means eliminate, or even necessarily decrease, new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. The results, however, do add an important piece of knowledge that the White House’s science advisers have been seeking as they scramble to respond to the spreading pandemic. Continue reading.
