I have no doubt that some of you can make a better steak than outback. I'm calling bullshit on cooking a 20ish ounce ribeye and two/three random sides for under 30 bucks. Cooking has gotten expensive too. Think someone threw out prime as well. That shit isn't cheap.
For the same price as <menu item at restaurant>, I can get <better ingredients> and cook it at home. No duh.
I'm not a huge fan of steak tbh. My wife would eat it every day. But I stand by steak being no different than any other food. Having the top tier is great but eating an average steak is still a decent meal. Saying you're too good for an Outback steak is some bullshit. Like the best chicken sandwich I've had by a wide margin was a place in Asheville but I can still enjoy a Popeyes chicken sandwich too. Bringing up cost and cooking at home is moving the goalposts. The original comment was once you've had elite, you can't go back. By your logic, once you've had a Peter Luger steak you can't eat steak anywhere else, even at home. That's bullshit.
Outback was our HS football team dinner meal every week. I'm far too good for it now and would never go.
Not very opinionated on steaks, just cringe at the "I'm too good for average _____" takes. If you don't like steak, cool. But "I've had elite ______, therefore I can't eat what peasants eat" is lame.
I'm tentatively planning on getting the sous vide and blow torch out for new years eve. Haven't used that stuff lately.
If this board had superlatives, this thread would win “Typical TMB”. We’re checking all the boxes here, gentlemen.
Ate at out back recently for the first time in a while. Had a fried shrimp appetizer that had the same breading as blooming onion. Pretty good. Also had solid bacon chees fries.
Outback isn’t the place to go for amazing entrées, but it hands down has the best cheese fries and ranch combo out there.
The prime rib sandwich was the greatest late night meal for my 25 year old self Think they discontinued it, probably wasn’t very good but absolutely loved it Can’t hate on cheese fries, if you wanna consume 2000 calories of fat
On the topic of shitty things I loved in college, TJI Fridays cheesy potatoes were fantastic. $12 sirloin with cheesy potatoes was fine dining Last night I had a $50 filet and crab cake I hated. Wish I could get back to simpler times
I’m legit jealous, the Outback here somehow fucks them up every damn time…burnt and undercooked simultaneously cooked in oil that probably should’ve been changed 2000 miles ago
Or that oversized knife that barely cuts the bread to spread that butter on and make the bread smushed?
It raises so many questions. Did he cook both of those pot roasts in the same crock pot? Or did he use two separate ones?
