I love Larkin, but Kane is the best offensive player we've had since Datsyuk retired. Larkin is a center and plays better defensively, but my goodness Kane is doing stuff on offense we haven't seen here in a decade
I don’t think that’s controversial at all. Kane is elite offensively. The best American to ever do it (til Matthews surpasses him).
Yea, but I'm not sure even the most optimistic of us expected him to look this good this season after surgery and given his age
The sample size and the age and production differences going into and coming off that surgery misled people, imo.

Think the overripe prospects are inflating the pool a bit. But ASP(now back from injury) and Danielson have been having great D+1 seasons. Augustine also has had a great season at MSU, he's small but I like him. Kasper too has been ramping up.
I mean who is really overripe though beside Berggren? Maybe AlJo? I mean, even with Edvinsson, the only 2 d in his draft playing a lot in nhl and wouldnt likely be included in prospects lists are the ones picked before him. He's kind of on track with most that draft class
Yea especially if Berggren doesn't count, I wouldn't consider our prospect pool overripe. Got a guy or two ready, but mostly they are on track with their draft classes
I said inflating a bit, not overall. There at least 3 guys in AlJo, Berggren, Edvinsson that should be in the NHL. Obviously if Berggren doesn't factor in that changes things. Those guys in other systems wouldn't be factoring in those rankings because they'd be in the NHL already.
To be eligible for inclusion, a skater must: Be under 23 years old. We know that by the time a player turns 23, he is largely done with the steep upward progression we see in prospects and will begin to plateau. Not be a full-time NHL player. This is the arbitrary section of the criteria. Here, I trust my judgment for whether or not a rostered NHL player is still likely to bounce between levels more than I trust any pre-determined games played cutoff. Preference for inclusion as an NHL prospect is more likely to be given to teenagers than 22-year-olds. Either be signed to an NHL contract or selected in the entry draft, without the expiration of either of those rights. Players who are signed to AHL contracts are not considered. To be eligible for inclusion, a goalie must: Be under 25 years old. This age criteria is more reflective of the typical goalie trajectory, allowing for the continued consideration of a small number of 23- and 24-year-old goalies who are very much still prospects. Not currently established as one of their NHL club’s two go-to options. Either be signed to an NHL contract or selected in the entry draft, without the expiration of either of those rights. Goalies who are signed to AHL contracts are not considered.
Capitals refusal to defend the slot reminds me of so many recent Wings teams. Nice to be on the other end.
Maybe I'm just getting excited to see the wings play like this, but if he can continue to elevate his game, I feel much better about this team long term
