It was on the radio. Fenech apparently has been re-assigned and covers different sports now. I wouldn’t put too much stock into what he has to say.
Maybin is so bad in the outfield. Misplayed a ball over his head the last inning that cost us two runs, now let’s a single turn into a double.
Gibby also yells go every pitch when we have a base runner, I've kind of tuned him out. I guess that's the plus side of us having no one on base
He’s employed by the front office and commentates games - what other team in the league has this awesome combo?
I think it used to be pretty common. Not sure anymore. Seems weirder to me that Morris does homer broadcasts for two teams in the same division than Gibson being a team employee.
They really need to clean house on announcing crew after this season. Ginny and Morris are awful. Petry is okay. Shep is some cheap fill in replacement from Mario. Once we start getting good, and more people watch, there will be more complaints.
Yeah I saw a broadcast last week...first time in a gold long while. Was astonished at how terrible they were.
I'll start by saying Schoop is almost for sure out anyway, but this is a Bullshit review because he didn't run to first based on the call of the umpire. Glad they didn't overturn it, but I have a hard time allowing reviews on calls like that where the base runner clearly stopped running to first because the call
There are 57 SP with enough innings to be qualified in statistical races. Nova is #55 in era and Boyd is #57. I'm fact, if you add #48 and 49 era together, it's still lower than Boyd's
Fuck these umpires. Make an awful fucking call costing us a go ahead run and then toss Maybin for complaining to his coach, not even talking to the umpire, for an awful strike call during his AB
I really think this team is going to bottom out here in next 3 weeks. We are 9-10 right now, wouldn’t be surprised if we are 15-24 after our next 20 games. Schedule is brutal, and our pitching sucks.
Maybin had 3 at bats over the weekend with 2 on and 1 out. He proceeded to ground into double plays on each one while seeing 4 or 5 pitches total in the three at bats. No reason for him to eat up anymore at bats this season.
Avila ran out of Hawaiian shirts and is going to ask the media for recommendations on websites he can order new ones from.
I feel bad, but my first reaction is "what happened with Manning if Skubal passed him even after having COVID?" Excited to see the three young guys, though. Hoping Paredes gets a real shot.
Skubal is older and I’m guessing more “refined”. Good shot he could come up later though if they really are going the young route.
Goodrum left last night's game with a back injury. Probably slide him to short if Goodrum is going to miss some time
Lugo DFA, I guess corresponding move for Mize and Skubal don't have to happen until tomorrow and Wednesday but wonder who it'll be. Anthony Castro will probably go back down. Is Funkhouser still up? Ship his ass back down too
Seemed like Manning got roughed up a bit in his July intrasquad starts and maybe they found something. I'm not too worried. Just a bit surprised about Skubal as much as anything.
We need Niko back soon because we need to figure out if he's worth going into another season thinking he can start at an up the middle position. The defense seems fine. The offense is a mixed bag that seems good enough to play if he's hitting 8th as opposed to leading off.
Ideally you'd find an "injury" Miggy has and put him on IL too. Then you can rotate Candy and Niko at 1b, Castro and Niko at SS and play one at DH who is left off the field that night. Candy is on a hot streak so I'd give him an extended look rest of way I want to see Castro, Candy, Niko, Paredes, Reyes and Jones in lineup every day or close to it rest of way. Rotate the catchers and maybe get something for Romine at deadline and bring up Rogers. I'd guess Schoop is here rest of way. I don't care who plays in that last spot, but I'd prefer Stewart or Demeritte over Maybin. Or even eventually call up Cameron or Hill
Skubal was up to 46 pitches in his last outing in Toledo. 3 innings feels like the max there. Gardenhire says Mize could go a little longer, but I'd bet his pitch count is somewhere around 60-65.
Skubal I understand, but Mize should have been throwing 70-75 pitches in summer camp, and doing more once he got to Toledo.
Well our bullpen is about to be killed after Boyd gives up 10 in 3 innings tonight and we follow it with back to back pitchers on pitch counts. May have to let Boyd go as long as he can even if he is getting shelled to save the BP a little bit
