iirc the whole 'verified' thing came about when some baseball player sued twitter for not doing anything about an account impersonating him.

i wonder how long until elon finds out and reintroduces something thats the same thing but rebranded

I'm just remembering back to the beginning and all the big plans for blue check marks and weren't they going to try to do porn too? I guess that fizzled out.

I mean, blue checks were always supposed to be opened up. They had an application form and everything, it was just unscalable so they limited it to just those who absolutely needed it for harassment reasons and the like. I'm sure some pr firms found ways to capitalize on it, but the intentions and reality were never hidden around it.

Had Elon come out and said we're going to keep blue checks as they are, but now anyone can pay to have their government id verified and then have a blue check additionally, it would have been hard to argue with since it'd be in line with the original intent (imho). But fixing the problem doesn't really seem to have been his goal.

 

Elon Musk is too stupid to know what they were trying to fix.

God damn conservatives are so fucking stupid. They always inadvertently argue against themselves.

So we’ll give him 4 instead of 3. That would be .15% of all mass shootings. Recent studies estimate .5% of the US identifies as transgender. So they are about 3x less likely to commit mass shootings based on statistics.

 

If Elon wants to look up what pwned means I know where he can look. Hell, he is going to see his own picture looking it up now.

 

I know there are a lot of complaints about the "For You" tab, but my bigger issue is trending topics. for me, most of the time it's just things I care about but they're rarely actually trending. it will be something like a team or player I'm a fan of and there will be 1500 tweets about it going back two weeks. it's so worthless.

 

that is an issue. but everything honestly seems driven to show you controversial things or shit you'll despise. it is all very purposeful to drive engagement and it sucks
