I suspect the big clubs that were behind that awful power grab "project big picture" are at the very least using this as leverage in another power grab.
“I’m going to give up watching all together if Man U and Barcelona play too often,” is a thing people expect others to believe
But consumption = eyes = ad impressions = sponsorship money, and money >>> everything else. I like big games, I watch big games, underdog stories are fun but if Real Madrid is down 0-3 going into a second leg first round of the knockout phase vs a Juventus or Bayern or PSG, I’ll likely watch. But if Ajax or Dinamo Whatever or something is in the same position, I pencil it in as a loss and get back to work.
that’s more or less my point. If you want super rich people to not take measures to enrich themselves, shopping ain’t it.
Arsenal going into the Super League is what I anticipate it being like if Michigan ever left with all the other mega P5 school to form a league to compete with the NCAA.
I have no interest in the Club World Cup or the Audi Cup, or even the League Cup. Just because good teams are in a competition doesn't mean I give a shit
Would people be less upset about this if it did away with the permanent member solution? It doesn’t interfere with domestic competitions and really just uses a table-based season format instead of a tournament-based knockout format. Let there continue to be competition to make it in on a yearly basis based on domestic competition + placement in super league the year before. Would the money dry up if you didn’t guarantee the biggest clubs in the world? Doubtful. This is just more televised/televisable matches over a season because you always have ten matches a week rather than less and less as teams are knocked out. Edit: just take CL and make it season table based and I get the same satisfaction. I’m just not about to white knight on behalf of Uefa, not saying anyone here is.
Yeah, if you win you pretend it's a huge deal and wear the badge proudly but if you lose, it's just an exhibition I remember last year Fox Sports didn't even show Liverpool in the final live
I mean this is probably something like where we end up. It'll still be UEFA but it might be called something else and the qualification rules will start to favor the big teams even more.
But it is still a tournament style competition but just with more matches in the group stage. After that, it’s 2 leg knockouts
Well then fuck this, really? I made a very large assumption, but I’m going to go ahead and propose my idea as a Super Duper League
2 groups of 10. Play everyone home and away. Top 3 from each go into QF. 4th vs 5th in each play 2 legs for last spots.
I genuinely thought the Jose firing was a joke this morning. I laughed and didn’t give it a second thought. He gets paid now right? I hope there was a clause in the contract that he owes Spurs money if they join a super league.
mentioning that a point here would draw Leeds level with Arsenal for 10th seems like such an innocent statement but I chose to hear it as some solid shade
Since we are on the way out from the PL, can we get a title change so I can stop getting triggered every time I get a notification from this thread?
after the quad died and the recent news i am down on the season except for sunday which may as well be a CL final because i don’t wanna be the ones that let spurs finally get a trophy
Unfortunately we’re blowing our load one game too early on Southampton. Sorry in advance to the Saints fans.
All so they could get a crucial point in the race for a competition they backed out of two days later
