Neither of them are anywhere near as beautiful as the man that pulls the strings at Milan, so this argument is a waste of time unless performance on the pitch is what's really important to you guys?

    different positions on the field....

Exactly, Cesc can do what Xavi does. Done it before.

Cesc at 23 is wayyy better than Xavi at 23. You have to remember that Xavi was a talented but often injured MF before Ronnie and Iniesta started with him. Than his reputation really blew up.

Two shit arguments now. And Xavi wasn't really worth much until Guardiola, who was arguably better than both at what they both do, became his mentor.

  8. rainey

    rainey Good Ebening

Hahah your argument is so shit. You know exactly that the rise of Xavi coincided with Dinho and Iniesta being promoted. Barcelona were in shit condition before those moves.

  9. rainey

    rainey Good Ebening

You must not remember when Barca finished 6th. I do. :)

Meanwhile, Cesc has been doing the business since he was 16 and only recently has been moved to the 10. It really is no wonder why Cesc is the future of Spain and who Barca want to take over for Xavi.

Watch him take over for Iniesta.

I don't even see what your point is? Thanks for developing our player while we were busy destroying shit in Europe. It's comforting to know that our youth system produces great players.

I'm not saying it did. I believe I already thanked Arsenal for developing him...

Produced him to the extent he would probably end up killing 15 Gunners if it meant he could return next year :smug:

Xavi was popping off today, by the way, about how unhappy Torres is, and if Liverpool aren't very good this year, he thinks Torres might try and come to Barcelona.

This was a argument about who was the better player, not who was on the best team.

Which is why I didn't understand your last comment. Yeah, Barcelona are planning to acquire him to replace Xavi/Iniesta who are old. That has nothing to do with furthering your Cesc>Xavi argument.

  16. rainey

    rainey Good Ebening

It means they want Cesc to play the same position, thus furthering the comment that Cesc can do what Xavi does, but Xavi can't do what Cesc does.

Yeah, because there's no way the higher-ups could view that transition as a drop-off. In fact, every time you bring in a player to replace an aging/retiring player, it's automatically an upgrade.

  19. rainey

In this case, it would be.

Can someone explain to me how iniesta is old? 26 isn't old. Cesc is replacing Xavi when he goes to Barca next year.

yeah, but that's soccer years. it's like a 29 year old running back

I understand soccer years, but cesc is only a couple years younger. Xavi is 30 now, that's old for soccer players. Iniesta's got at least 3 good years left in him, he's not Brazilian who lose everything in their 20s.

No, that is not in any way, shape, or form like a 29 year old running back. Xavi is one of the best mids in the world at 30, Pirlo was the best in the world at 28, Drogba is the best striker in the world at 32, etc.

those cases are few and far between. besides, Drogba got a late start in football (club soccer at 21) so his clock started late.

Cesc will last to his 30s in Spain. Probably done by 30 if he stayed in England. He's had a couple bad injuries.

Iniesta is an injury machine. Would be shocked if he makes it to 30s.

I still think this is an argument that no one will win since the play two completely different styles of play. Cesc scores a lot more, while Xavi controls the flow of the game

27 years old is the peak age of a soccer player. iniesta is just fragile, he's not old.

    and cesc > xavi

You obviously missed where they said Cesc can do EVERYthing that Xavi can. And Xavi can't do anything that Cesc can.

Surprised Cesc hasn't just dropped Fabregas altogether in order to complete the dethroning process.
