I’m not overreacting. If the panthers from last night show up and depth is all online and Bob is this version of Bob then they are a favorite to win it all with the only team that should’ve a higher favorite being Edmonton.
I agree on this. PK needs to be better and they need to stay out of the box, but if this run of form continues, they can beat anyone in a 7 game series.
Stay out of the box for sure but they are also running up against great power plays. Just need to match it when we are on power plays to be honest and so far it looks achievable.

Oddly more nervous now. Would hate for it to go back to Toronto now and give them any life whatsoever. but winning a game where tkachuk didn’t have much to say about it is quite the good sign. I’m feeling pretty good about all the forwards right now which is so important to keep it going. wouldn’t mind Marc staal going away as we can only make up for his mistakes so much.
I will say I’d be more nervous if I felt we didn’t have the better goaltending situation. Samsonov being hurt or not, Bob has been conn smythe level these playoffs. So with that going for us I can’t see us losing 4 even if leafs can claw one back on Wednesday. in addition to goaltending you also have: The best skater/player in the series Barkov playing well 2-ways even if still looking for him to shoot more. Playoff Sam Bennett in full force 3 dependable lines and the 3rd line especially is a PROBLEM for everyone else. Eetu has been on a level that could earn him a top line spot in a general sense. And to add to that… the guys you needed to step up have and are doing it consistently: Duclair, Lundell, Reinhart. Those were the 3 guys you needed.
Had fun listening to a couple of the podcasts. Can’t bring the panther Pourie podcast around my kid tho. but really it’s funny listening to how Paul Maurice is vindicated talk. The playoff run is exceptional and the goalie change timing was too and it’s all great but you can still not be wrong about the dogshit way the team played the first half of the season and it taking a Lyon miracle to get in. One thing I noticed about the leafs reminded me of last season when the panthers played the caps in game 1. The panthers were shot out of a cannon physically and tried to “play playoff hockey” but going way overboard on physical play. It wasn’t their game. I feel like that’s what the leafs did here. They tried to match floridas forecheck and physical way they force turnovers but when they didn’t play their game as much. Later in the series sure but they reminded me of last years Florida a lot. canes though will absolutely be able to play that game. So that will be interesting I listened to the episode with Josh after game 6 vs. Boston and it’s pretty funny. We’ve been texting all season about the Maurice stuff. But the whole bit about how there was no way swaymann was playing game 7 was funny to listen back to.

I don’t really care what the analytics say but that defensive effort rocked. Once barkov was out, Carolina didn’t have great chances. I can’t remember a single dangerous chance in the 3rd even with the extended 6on5 other than maybe a tip attempt or two. Just a stellar team effort to stay organized and battle in the corners. I’m sure the win o meter is like 85% but Carolina did not have an easy time at all generating dangerous chances.
Analytics actually had it close. Panthers did a masterful job keeping Carolina to the perimeter all night. 2.14 xG for a game is nothing especially for a team like Carolina who usually puts up 3.5xG+

This is a flawed team (similar to the Heat) being carried by Tkachuk who is the NBA equivolent of an All Star Caliber Pat Beverly and their goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky. You love him if he's on your team but hate playing against him. Captain is Barkov who is your typical lead by example type. 2 way beast You are thinking of ths Staal brothers. They are 2 of the worst players on the team. Finally, back to Bob. He was a big Free agent signing 4 years ago that was a mistake the day it was announced. Basically Kyle Lowry level meh. However, in these playoffs Bob has been the best player in the playoffs. He keeps this up and they will likely win the whole fucking thing. If you want to sound smart, you can mention that this isn't a typical 8 seed. They Panthers may have had 92 points, but they massively underperformed what the analytics said about them which had them as a top 10ish team for most of the season.
