When people think of Alan Rickman, they typically think Harry Potter. My mind goes straight to Galaxy Quest first.
Watched it a few months ago on HBO or showtime and enjoyed it /tweet edit add on: I saw it in theaters so that was a rewatch
Confident my significant other has not seen this and this thread has inspired me to correct that ASAP
i love it. some people think it's making fun of star trek but i see it as the most sincere love letter to it. i have no idea how this movie got made
I might watch it later tbh because it's been years. Iirc there is a scene where someone walks up to Alan Rickman and is like "by grabthar's hammer..." and he cuts them off with "oh jesus christ"
The way they skewered how poorly the women were treated on these shows was so good. Justin Long and Rain Wilson were also perfect casting for the nerd fans.
More star trek nerdery: This is how people talk to each other in star trek I love that they do the viewscreen thing with the bad guy and he's like "lol fuck you, my guns are bigger"
Just finished the movie "What you fail to realize is my ship is dragging mines." Is kind of a fucking cool moment for a comedy action movie
The family guy person Seth McFarland basically tried/dis something similar with that show The Orville, but wasn’t very good. I’m hopefully for this though. Galaxy Quest is fantastic
I think the Orville is actually a ripoff of a pilot for a show called Boldly Going Nowhere, which was being written and produced by the Its Always Sunny guys and starring series regulars like Cricket, Artemis and Z (aka Cutty from The Wire).
