it makes games more interesting and it is possible to profit off sports betting. I don’t turn a profit most years but it’s an inexpensive hobby
The key is to either be good at it or know your limits like GoodForAnother $5 to give you a rooting interest for three hours seems like good value to me
Here is what I say about this. If you want to put $20 on the game and it makes it interesting for you, go for it. I do it to make good money and put thousands of hours into mastering this craft. I make a very good side income off of this.
I’ve made a few hundred bucks this year but would gladly lose a couple hundred for a year’s worth entertainment
That’s my point. It makes a boring game interesting to watch. It’s pure entertainment. Last week i made 13k. I have so much information and stats posted in excel. CBB I have a model to predict every score of all the games
as the season goes, it will get stronger. Early adjustments. For instance yesterday’s number had the Illinois total at 140. Adjusting Ken Pom numbers changed it to 145. 10 years ago is when they money was easily made because Ken Pom was so much better than linesmakers and they didn’t use his numbers. Now the line is pretty much made on Ken Pom numbers
Yeah without a 20 ppg guy their going to have problems scoring. Hell Bradley giving Xavier a game and Toledo lost on basically a buzzer beater
Annual Turkey Day (10 pt 3 game) Teaser: New Mexico/Utah State o40 R-Words +13 Texans/Lions o41.5 Probably won’t bet anything else today. Got a big Saturday ahead of me.
Me as well. Sitting at the parents house and I’ll bet the game live but I don’t feel like bringing the laptop out. Now tomorrow and Saturday. We firing all day. Think I’ll be in Roy Jones Jr pretty big Saturday night
It takes multiple power ratings (Ken Pom, Sagarin etc.) combined with each teams tempo to give me a score
I also have 10,000+ logged in excel from the last 10 years to show historic data for 2nd half predictions. For instance if the 1st half goes over by 10, what does the 2nd half do
Tempo being possessions per game or points per possession or something like that? I live in the M&S world for computational physics so I’ve always been interested sports gambling models.
Possesions per game. The average in CBB is 71.5 possesions but some teams obviously do more. I spent months setting it up and tweaking it all through excel. Now all I need to do is update ratings every day, which is about 5 minutes, put the teams in and it gives me projections.
Nice. Should hire some kid to redo it all in python and you could automate the updating. Could easily make a custom GUI for visualizing.
