Hitting up a new place tomorrow (Indian and Nepalese). Generally make Indian food. Don’t often get it to go. Looking to try something interesting and different. Thoughts?
I always say yellow ,orange, or red chicken. 95% of the time the worker has no clue what I’m talking about. correct answer. Tandori chicken. Or chicken Korma. Get a few extra naan to dip in the sauce.
Malai kofta if you have calories to burn or don’t give a fuck about that shit. Saag paneer or lamb vindaloo if you’re being a good boy.
Didn't know what saag paneer was until an Indian postdoc in my lab at UMich introduced me to it. Got damn is it right up there with the rest. Tough to beat a solid lamb biryani for me. I wish they served biryani with a side of curry/vindaloo/yogurt-based sauce for rice + naan dipping. That would be perfection.
I've never ate Indian food, but I love spicy food and I've had multiple people tell me I'd probably like Indian food. I've never tried it, but that looks delicious. I think I'll have to get some now
Chicken Tikka Masala with garlic naan. Ask for it at level 6 or 7. So good. One of my favorite foods.
Vegetable Korma, Saag Paneer, and I always ask for really spicy curry. If I'm not sweating, it's not hot enough.
I generally hate having a "go-to" order, but I love this too much, it's hard to change it up. I've had different MoMo and they're great. Pakora are good if, buts it's just fried veggies or meat. Had some Aloo Gobi not that long ago on the rec of a vegetarian friend, and it was good but didn't touch vindaloo, for me. I once got bullet (chilies) naan and lamb vindaloo (always ask for very spicy) together and thought I was having a stroke. I got tunnel vision and had buzzing feeling down my arms. Still finished because it's so damn tasty.
Came here to post malai kofta and of course fucking Mickey already posted it. Made my own at home for the first time recently. Was surprisingly very good, but still prefer it from a restaurant.
It seems I have some serious menu exploring to do next time I eat Indian food. I mean I always knew there were a lot of other items on the menu, and I would try a few, but now I at least have some idea as to what I should go with.
There used to be an Indian restaurant in downtown Athens that had a lunch buffet. Perfect for introduction to many different dishes at once. They had to get rid of the buffet when they changed locations. Fatass me sure does miss it. Goddamn. Now I want Indian food.
never had a good Indian pickle lots of cultures in India revere pickles to the point that families have secret recipes that have been passed down for centuries, but not one I've tried has ever tasted good to me if I could find a place that makes the GOAT indian dish -- pav bhaji -- I'd be all over it
they're two different things chutney is a sauce and usually prepared fresh, where pickles have less liquid, are usually oil based, and are often aged for months
if I get mango chutney i dont expect anything fresh at all. I expect something preserved in almost a jam kinda way, so often kinda sweet, onions, something sweet like mango or tomatoes and some spice and ginger
Another thing i do at Indian restaurants is I just look at online photos and choose whatever looks good. If the restaurant is good you can’t go wrong
