What the hell. Switch just got some N64 games in the past year, was hoping this might come with the premium library.

 

game always gave me a headache

 

Playing this is my mid-30s on the original controller was probably the most frustrating gaming experience of my life. No idea how I did it back in the day.

 

How did you hold it?

 

You hold the middle with your left hand and use your thumb on the middle stick. Is there another way to hold it?

 

Both outside handles, still thumb on the stick and middle finger on Z

 

Looks like I’ll be stealing my son’s console on a regular basis

 

A student of mine brought a n64 on the last week of classes a few years ago and he had Goldeneye. It was ruining my memories of the game going back to it. Turned it off immediately.

Also it was one of the first console FPS and there became a standard sort of way of mapping controls later on so yeah it is so fucking frustrating picking up the n64 and trying it out with the weird controller. I have no idea how I even played that game back in the day for hours with the control setup

I beat Starfox64 on the premium Switch release in about an hour and 15 minutes and was wildly disappointed.

I would still like to re-achieve all the timed runs in this game though and am mad that only Xbox is getting it.

 

Just read the actual release. Switch is getting it and has exclusive rights to online play. lololol Xbone losers.

it was very innovative for the time, now it's just huge dog shit compared to modern control schemes.

 

It'll be fun for 15 minutes but that 15 minutes will be cool

 

What was the machine gun you got on the frigate level?

 

Klobb? RC P90?

 

I liked playing the actual missions. Some of them are so hard on 00 Agent difficulty. The computer AI's are murderous freaks

Once we invited our friend over and had a custom game setup before he got there where he started with a Klobb and we all got an RCP-90 and it was 3on1 and just annihilated him. He was dumb enough to not even realize, we called him Klobb after that.

 

At my buddy’s house we either draped a blanket over 1/2 the screen, or taped a cut piece of cardboard over half the TV.

Those were some great nights.

 

if you didn't play 4 player DM in this game istg you grew up with no friends and I feel bad for you.

 

stack, power weapons

facility, proximity mines (obviously)

complex, golden gun or remote mines

 

Sometimes I’d play facility and intentionally set the alarm off in the chemical lab and just try to kill as many guards as I could before dying. They just kept coming

 

Slappers only was the most entertaining mode

 

Runway for me. Would literally spend hours just running up and down it gunning down mooks.

 

Did anyone ever do the reload while changing weapons cheat so you could pair an RCP90 with the shotgun

 

Ohh man I had forgotten about proximity mines, fucking hated those
Atleast remote mines took some skill watching where your opponents were

 

Believe it was the trigger plus either B or A

 

Loved how rage inducing proximity mines could be. Throwing them just around a corner or on top of body armor and then internally cackling as you see your friend approaching it...
