To add on to this IrishLAX2 , South course at Arcadia is really nice but still pretty new so the greens were real firm and fast, I enjoyed it but I could see how some would be turned off by having seemingly good approach shots roll right off. Good strategy course, fairways are big but have bunkers you have to plan around. I fucking hate playing in wind and it was fairly windy there, but still a good time. Treetops wasn't my cup of tea, the Threetops par 3 course felt super gimmicky and for a "resort" it was really lacking in all areas
They used to run semi annual sales. Believe August and December? Not sure if they still do this was a decade ago.
There was a 10% off on the $1,500 package (the $1400 i referenced) and 15% off the $2000 but that was it. I think they're franchises so might be more affordable elsewhere.
So my club has a Flight Scope they use for fittings on the range but they also set it up on a simulator in the back of the pro shop. They also let you reserve it for an hour or two and there’s couches, a tv, and bar service. I’m guessing we’ll get a lot of use out of this
Much like Rahm we get the pleasure of hearing every tournament that he's worked on controlling his emotions/composure
Played PGA National today. Holy shit that is the hardest 7000 yard course I’ve played. Wind was brutal as well
Ernie wins the champions tour event in Newport Beach. Was out there Friday and today. Ernie came off 9 and it’s a bit of a walk to 10 and people are trying to take selfies with him while he’s walking. Pretty funny.
Tour just announced a Champions Tour event at our club starting in 2021. Furyk put it together. Probably going to kind of suck for playing golf but pretty cool for our club to be the host.
Use to play a course that hosted a LPGA event. They got the course looking gorgeous and playing hard leading up to it. Really fun.
You’ll lose access to the locker room and everything that week but there are member perks typically during the event. My father in law is a member at the course that hosted the champions tour event this past week. It’s fun.
There is a Korn Ferry event at my club next month. I’m both excited to see some of those guys play the course and bummed about not being able to play for that period of time.
Yeah, this isn't the first tourney that we have hosted. Had a Open qualifier and an LPGA four-ball championship the past couple of years. But this will likely be the most notable event.
The player access is unreal. I literally stood next to Monty outside of the ropes for like 3 minutes.
Did the same years ago. Lost at least 2 balls in the rough because it was so thick. Shockingly, even with those lost balls, it was one of the best rounds of my life. No idea how but whatever, had sex scored well.
Absolute carnage going down at my club today on day 1 of a college tournament. It was rainy for a little while this morning but it stopped and now it's just a little cool and breezy; nothing compared to the 25-30mph steady winds they had for the practice round yesterday though
Interested about the logistics for this event. Long walks to the range and a couple long walks between holes. Course is sick though.
I think they’re going to have carts shuttling back and forth from the range. Not sure what they decided to do for the walk between 2 and 3. Really hope the rain doesn’t fuck it up.
undrtow so the guy that lives behind me in the new neighborhood is the GM (I think) of the Honors. My wife and his wife share friends. I have zero hope of ever playing there, but if there’s ever a shot, it’s through him or I guess volunteering for the amateur coming up in a few years.
Has there been any talk of postponing /cancelling any upcoming events or are they planning to completely run them as scheduled?
The Masters stated last week that they are watching the situation closely and are concerned that the event brings fans from all over the world.
Saw a statement earlier from Monahan regarding the WGC match play in Austin; SXSW was canceled that same weekend there so he was asked if they'd do the same, just said the tour is monitoring the situation. There were rumors yesterday about possibly having to move the PGA Championship from San Francisco and Matt Every even said something along the lines of "if it happens there" on the NLU pod talking about TPC Harding Park and that was recorded Sunday night. The PGA said that is not true but that seems like it had some credibility if several different people were saying it independently
walked 54 holes at Meadow Club in the North Bay the past couple days every single member I talked with mentioned the fact it's an Alister MacKenzie course. So lovely Spoiler
Yeah. The tournament is April 23-26. The course will be closed that entire week and I think the week before. I’m assuming they will have shuttles. I’ve never seen anybody walk down to the range and I can’t imagine that would start now. Apparently we get some type of clubhouse pass so that’s nice. The real pain is going to be parking. They’re having to shuttle everyone up the mountain.
Judging by Instagram, Amanda Balionis is off the market thanks to Bryn Renner (current CB coach at FIU) and former North Carolina QB. Congrats Tobias
Just can’t help but think they’re going to cancel the Masters this year (or at least restrict spectators). Seems to be trending too heavily in that direction, and with how quickly this is seems to be ramping up who knows what April will look like. Bummed b/c we had Tuesday practice round tickets (would be my first time at Augusta National), but obviously bigger issues at play if it gets that serious in the next few weeks.
