Not really a wrong answer here, so here's my submission
Born to Run
love his newest song
Bruce Springsteen performs his new song Wrecking Ball at Giants Stadium (First time!)
-Incident on 57th St
-Lost in the Flood
-Racing in the Street
-Youngstown (live in '99)
-My City of Ruins
-Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)
-New York City Serenade
... I can go on and on. It used to piss me off that people would just dismiss Bruce as "Oh, that dude who sings Born in the USA? How can you like that guy so much?" Now I just laugh. Such an amazing career and a song writer up there with anybody.
Really doesn't compare to most songs on the "Born to Run" album, IMO.
Bruce is , but I have to say the Rage Against the Machine version of this is way better...
Since ThunderRoad and Jungleland were taken...
Brilliant Disguise is the correct answer. But so is The River. But also Backstreets. Or it could be Rosalita. Good chance it's Stolen Car. Also might be Darkness on the Edge of Town.
Not just his best song but the best song ever written.
I've said it in other threads about GOAT songs; I'm not sure if I should envy you or pity you if you can't relate to Springsteen's Backstreets.
Brilliant Disguise does contain his most profound lyric right at the end with "God have mercy on the man who doubts what he's sure of."
Brilliant Disguise or I'm on Fire
may not be a popular opinion but "Tunnel of Love" is my GOAT album of his. Saw him twice. He is the greatest performer. Fuck Prince.
Have seen him over 30 times. GOAT performer. You ain't wrong about that.
Ghost of Tom Joad with Tom Morello is one of the best live performances I've ever seen.
As a purist who has seen Nils Lofgren crush that guitar solo and who doesn't like Morello's one trick pony guitar sound I DO understand why that performance is such a great one.
I still don't know if Terry is a dude or not. You see this song through quite a few lenses
Another vote for Thunder Road. I love the way that song builds. Perfect opening track.
I've changed my answer. It is Thunder Road.
Eric Church Springsteen
and the thunder rolls
and the lightnin strikes
My tastes change and it's I'm on Fire for me right now. Goddam that song is good
Doesn’t really qualify but his verse in Street Hassle is one of my favorite creations of his
i've tried to get into springsteen but i just can't
Do you like any singer songwriters?
Not to be a cunt but Springsteen is best listened to on Vinyl.
Yeah Dave Davidson from Revocation
Do you like any singer songwriters that don’t growl about vomiting on dead corpses?
There's bands that tons of people love that I can't get into. You can't make yourself like something you don't like
"Singer songwriter" is not really a distinction I care about because most bands I'm into are collaborative efforts
Jungleland doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves. Probably because it’s almost ten minutes long (I’ve never heard it on the radio), but it’s a hell of a book end to one of the greatest albums of all time.
When the organ kicks in on “from the churches to the jails,”
is billy joel a "singer songwriter"?
because i love billy joel
There are few “list your favorite” exercises more difficult than choosing one Springsteen song.
Not my favorite, but I think an overlooked/overshadowed one is Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.
Big fan of Because the Night
Always been partial to My Hometown.
Fair enough...to each their own...I guess I’m asking about spoken word singers or something close to it.
Saw Springsteen on Broadway tonight. What an incredible experience. 9th Bruce show, totally worth it to travel cross country for this, I am awed.
I haven’t changed my answer. Thunder Road is still the GOAT.
Atlantic City is his best song, not his fault Levon recorded the best edition
Hahahahaha fiction can be fun
Spoken like a Georgia fan, I bet you have a great collection of Lax Pennies, High Socks, and NBA jerseys
