100% me too
I'd like to see Kendrick and Peggy get in the lab and make a few tracks together
Oh dear god, I would want that to work. Kendrick is still my #1, but he’d have to be very well caffeinated for that session. Peggy and Denzel full album would be fantastic.
Peggy/Kendrick/Denzel/JID I’ll take it all in oil
Rumors say that Kenny is taking a heavy/rock direction with his new music. Peggy May be perfect for that
Interesting. Excited for that, and equally excited for whatever Isaiah Rashad finally does this year (if that actually happens).
El-P dropped a single off RTJ4
Painted all day Friday and Saturday. Listened to every RTJ and R.A.P. Stoked for RTJ4.
Edit - Didn't do the cat one
Did the same while working out on Saturday after seeing his initial post of that clip
So what I’m seeing here is a Conway album produced by the alchemist?
yeah coming out 3/30
Another one on all streaming services
BIG fan of ooh la la by RTJ. Hope that’s a vibe on the new album because boy I fuck with this.
Rumors out there that push and Madlib are working on an album
I played the fuck out that when it dropped.
Also that cortex sample is soooooo ill
Sitting with it and absorbing it is something else. Lupe needs a spot in the hall of fame
I mean, 8 minutes 30 seconds of straight bars. It’s incredible
1) I enjoy this guys videos
2) forgot how great this album was, and how much I enjoy Q
Dentons reactions of GKMC and TPAB are fantastic. He’s really good about not just leaning on the sonic elements of an album but also working out lyrical content. He’s a really fun watch
I miss scratching and mixing in hip hop. Every time I hear it I get nostalgic vibes.
As soon as I heard the intro in knew that Greg Nice.
Huge fan of Killer Mike. Think in 2002 I went to a concert at the House of Blues in Orlando to see Outkast. The Dungeon Family was on stage free styling until Ludicrous was supposed to come on stage. 30 minutes go by, 30 more and he finally comes out hammered and drinking some Crown right out the bottle. One of the beats from his big hit drops and the crowd ain’t feeling it. He says “fuck all ya’ll white people, you don’t know I’m going to be a legend!” and walks off stage. His best is still going and Killer Mike comes out and says “I love white people” and flows over Ludicrous’ beats for a few songs. Shit was magical
Critics want to mention that they miss when hip-hop was rappin' .. mother fucker, if you did, then killer mike would be platinum
The Conway/Alchemist joint is nice
Oh shucks. we missed lil baby mumbling on someone’s song.
Really enjoy the sound of toosie slide
except for the hook/dance part.
lasted about 30 seconds on that video. reminded me of this, but serious
it was 100% a TikTok play, but I enjoyed the song minus the hooks. Not saying it’s a good song, but it’s a fun listen
This T-Pain v Lil Jon IG Live battle from last night
Ben digging into Madvillainy over the weekend.
DOOM and Madlib are psychopaths and it’s beautiful
when I was in my office I would play Dooms Special Herbs since it’s all instrumental and wouldn’t offend anyone at work and was super chill
I’m pretty sure that if these push/madlib rumors come to be I’m gonna lose my shit
Finally getting around to this latest (and final) Clear Soul Forces project. If you like tickertape flows and grimey detroit vibes it's a must.
Top 5 rap albums all time as told by patches from the Internet.
1: Illmatic - Nas
2: To Pimp A Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar
3: Aquemini - OutKast
4: Madvillainy - Madvillain
5: Moment Of Truth - GangStarr
You’re all very welcome for my contribution to this ongoing debate
this premier-rza battle has been incredible and pretty much every commenter has been by a hip hop legend
My eyes and pretty much every 30something when I saw topanga hit the comments
on premier’s ig
think the live feed lasted a full three hours. that rivaled any new music release i can remember just from the sheer joy of it all, and now i've got a spotify playlist of the tracks they were playing.
Like, the set list?
this is a great story on how it came about
Questlove has had a lot of good recent content between spinning a bunch of Tribe stuff for Q-Tip's birthday and the talk with Mike D and Ad Rock promoting the Beasties doc
i think my favorite 10 is something like
1. Aquemini- so good at the peaks it can be on the top despite having a bad song
2. Midnight Marauders- perfect album
3. Paul's Boutique- wild to think this came out in 89. misunderstood at the time but holds up amazingly well. decades before its time and influential across genres. every track is a tapestry of samples.
4. MBDTF- perfect or near perfect
5. Supreme Clientele- the best street/slang rap record to me. you know it's good when the biggest critique is the skits are too long
6. GKMC- best major label debut. Kendrick was already fully realized
7. Yeezus- kind of like the hip-hop Kid A as a sonic game-changer
8. Things Fall Apart-doesn't get talked enough as a classic
Buhloone Mindstate- sad De La's catalog can't get on streaming services
Reasonable Doubt- for whatever reason I come back to this the most of Jay-Z's catalog. super cohesive
Fishscale- production from Dilla, Pete Rock, Just Blaze, Doom
The Minstrel Show
I fucking adore Fishscale and it doesn’t get talked about enough
Kilo samples Schoolhouse Rock lol. And R.A.G.U, Dogs of War are bangers of the highest order. Ghost and Rae always deliver when they go with the full budget and don't skimp on production, though Ghost is less prone to do that. OB4CL2 was like Fishscale too in pulling out all the stops.
I mean, fine, it's cool to hear a lot of good music, but the VS battles on IG are fucking s t u p i d.
If you want to battle, then battle. Unleash new shit that nobody has heard.
Any of us can hop on spotify or whatever and queue up all the songs we like that are yours.
cool man go do that then and kick rocks
that shit was amazing though
