Them, and everyone else who buys from Home Depot, allowing them to crush Lowe's sales repeatedly, quarter after quarter. Surprised an astute investor like Shoc.. lechnerd can't appreciate this

So I am looking for ideas. I have a landing area at the top of my stairs on the second floor. One side of it has a railing with spindles which is open to the first floor and looks down towards the front door. The area is probably 15 feet by 15 feet. The three bedrooms and bathroom all feed off this landing area. There is not a wall large enough to hang a TV due to the fact that there are doorways all over. I have no idea what to do with this space. A couch looks kind of out of place but maybe a sitting area which I would never use? Right now its empty. I was wondering if any of the more creative members here might have an idea for the space.
Simple but elegant leather chair, ottoman, end-table, antique lamp, humidor, keyed small liquor cabinet, decanter.
And do not forget 2 rickety wood chairs that guests sit in so you can intimidate and ultimately crush them when closing deals at the house.
I thought about that but I am concerned it won't be really large enough. I am thinking I am going to be stuck making a siting area.
You could make a 7ft table work in a 15x15 room, especially if part of it is open (for stick use). But may seem out of place.
That might work, only issue issue is I am going to try and find a way to mount a tv to put sports on if we have a game. I really like that idea.
That space was likely designed to be a sitting area like you mentioned, so maybe install a custom built-in and get some expensive chairs that you'll never sit in.
Knock a wall or 2 down and expand a bedroom or bathroom into this space. Increase the value of your home by adding an on suite bath to a bedroom. Might not be that hard to do if it is next to the other bathroom for plumbing.
Not sure the space will allow that. Its three bedrooms and the way the rooflines are, I don't see much room to add any additional footage. If I opened the room up by taking down a wall, it becomes a really weird shape but see what you mean, just probably won't work in this space.
I think if you went with a full size 4.5 x 9' table it would work. I have a full size in a ~14 x 19' play area. I have about 4.5 - 5' shooting area on the ends and 4.5 - 5' on the sides. With some barstool(x4) type seating around the table. edit: that'd give you a 3 foot shooting area on the ends. Would be a little tight.
If that's true, then how come there's a whole line of fridges just for them? Or are you about to tell me the Midwest doesn't have fridgeadeer?
Give me some ideas to do here. Been in the house almost 2 years so going to start changing some landscaping. Irrigation system doesn’t hit this area and I suck at keeping up watering so I’m looking at low maintenance. Thinking about just putting some rocks or something.
Anyone good at drilling into masonry? I hung a flag pole this weekend but it doesn’t feel like the screws are holding extremely tightly. I used the masonry tapcon bit and the matching screws but am concerned wind could pull the screws out over time. Thinking about pushing some liquid nails into the screw holes and then inserting the screws and letting it dry. Any input?
One is spinning. The other isn’t really tight but I am nervous to tighten it and cause it to spin. Three tapcon screws total. Flag pole is wooden and light but with wind it will create some tension. I first tried drilling in the mortar but every screw would spin so I went into the brick. It’s holding but I am concerned long term it might loosen. Thinking I might use some liquid nails.
You need a different type of masonry fastener for that. Use something with a sleeve. The basic plastic sleeve with a screw will probably work (attached). Wedge anchors are overkill but would also work better than a tapcon screw.
What size are the screws? You can grab sleeves for screws that will grab the sides as you screw them in. Like a smaller scale lag bolt sleeve.
I don't use TapCons under 1/4" diameter (drill 3/16). For your application, 1-1/4" should work, or step up to 1-3/4" for overkill. Liquid Nails likely won't improve the situation, though it probably won't hurt anything either. There are some commercially available chemical fasteners, but that also seems a trifle much. Sleeves are okay too, with the metal ones being preferred to the moly/plastic variety. Reminder to never use an impact driver to tighten TapCons, as it compromises the thread deformation process. Cordless drill with appropriate driver bit only.
So i have no hot water and there’s a lot of water between my hot water heater and my sump pump... Is that thing done or are these problems repairable? If so, any recommendations for tank vs tankless? Only my wife and I but we’re expecting to have kids in this house at some point and wife takes long showers
Anyone have experience installing a sink? I want to put one in our laundry room and I’ve got the rough plumbing already in place: Seems like a simple project. Any advice besides turning the water off at the street before I get started?
A sink is a basin which everyone knows is just a tank without a lid. I think lechnerd has realized his error and is looking for a way to get a tank and still save face.
