Energy company is having a $50 rebate on top of $50 sale from nest/ecobee it looks like. But have to buy it from energy company.
Went under contract on my first house today. Pretty excited and also scared. It is definitely going to be a project updating the kitchen/baths and paint but the house was built in 1941 and has tremendous character. Pretty pumped about the heart pine floors throughout. Needless to say though I will be checking in on this thread regularly. I'm a general contractor but I do commercial so I am looking forward to the thrills and inevitable headaches the residential world will bring.
Cleaned my gutters yesterday and it wasn't bad at all. I did have two ~20ft runs where they were actually holding water. Felt good to have them cleaned. *I have a 1 story house, so just used an 8ft ladder.
Re-caulking shower/tub, but HD didn’t have right color (light gray) in an explicit “kitchen and bathroom” caulk, so got exterior window/door version. The bathroom/kitchen stuff they did have was labeled “silicon 2+” and so was the exterior stuff I got, and lots of other similar “mold free 10-year guarantee” and “waterproof” badging, etc. How bad of a mistake would it be to use this stuff around the top of the bathtub? Or is silicone 2+ caulking all basically just the same stuff? For reference: GE Silicone 2+ Window & Door Sealant https://www.homedepot.com/p/100663308 Vs GE Silicone 2+ Kitchen & Bath Sealant https://www.homedepot.com/p/100663319
I clicked on the Window and Door sealant and then clicked on product info and it was the product info for Bath and Kitchen
If I had to guess, they're the same, just labeled differently so people feel comfortable with what they purchased. I can't imagine any scenario where caulk designed to be used outside wouldn't work in a shower.
Thanks for trying. Not sure what’s up with that. Links are different product IDs as far as I can see and open to the right ones for me (both in the HD app and in safari)... but I’m “inside the system” so maybe can’t replicate. Edit: Nevermind see below.
Blink cameras are like 40% off right now. My friend has one on his back door (then ring doorbell and camera up front), he says his works fine. Anyone else used this brand?
2 pack is on sale for like 129, 3 pack is 199 right now. Thinking of doing one on my back/patio door then one around my garage. Then ill get a ring doorbell soon.
We are moving in the next 2/3 months and plan on getting another camera and a doorbell at some point link for sale?
2 pack is 139, my bad. It’s just on their actual site then to order it links you to amazon. https://blinkforhome.com/collections/outdoor-security-camera
I usually have 200+ 30 second videos stored before I delete and don't think I have ever been over 30% Right now have 28 and I'm at 3% so should hold over 900
No annual fee and I assume lifetime customer support. I've had to call once and they fixed problem quickly
Depends how crazy you want to get from a technological standpoint. Want something easy and quick or run some cables and mount a few access points. Either way PM me if you need something or have questions.
Cheapest most reliable route to extend coverage is a powerline adapter with WiFi unit plugged into dead spaces. Have a tp-link that does the job and was about $60 a couple years ago.
3 years ago we built a house a half mile from our old house. We took a walk one day and were like "hey let's build."
Just got back home from closing on our new place. Have to wait until Monday at 5:00 to take possession. Kind of ticked because I thought the sellers were dependent on their sale to buy their new place but they said at closing that they closed on their new place two weeks ago. I'm not sure why they haven't moved out yet then. It did feel good to know how in demand our place was, their realtor says she's been averaging a dozen calls a week on the place since we got it under contract and just yesterday she got call 3 calls asking if the sale may fall through.
Finally had the kitchen backsplash done. No, I didn’t do it. Yes, I know that makes me a pussy. Herp derp. Really happy with the result though. Before and afters: As a reminder, this was the kitchen before we had the cabinets painted.
No, we initially asked for that but it was a multiple offer situation so we backed off on that to give more strength to ours.
Man, tough situation to be in and seems like they had you over a barrel. Still though, I may have asked for a refundable deposit or something. These people are essentially living rent free in your home with no legal obligation to do anything.
My less than 2 year old shower has tiles cracked on the one wall (exterior wall that I’m sure doesn’t work well with the extreme hot shower to cold winter). One year in the house it must have been settling and one of the corner shelves cracked right in half. I may be looking at alternative ideas and tearing out this tile sooner than I would have ever wanted to.
We built 2 years ago. Master bath has a tiled showered like the one posted recently. The wall that is an exterior wall must be effected by the hot shower temps versus the cold exterior wall temp in the winter that caused multiple tiles to crack.
There is but it’s just my assumption that the temp difference caused the cracks. My frustration is I have to replace it at some point. But I’ll be very hesitant to just put the same thing up. It’s a new house so my first comment was that the house may have settled a little and stressed the tiles.
